VOLUME SIX | FEBRUARY 2025
Our Founder's Perspective
In this issue:
Dear Wing & Barrel Ranch Members,
At our recent Annual Member Meeting, I shared new initiatives to the 70+ members who attended. Your support and engagement has been instrumental to our success. I’m excited for the upcoming opportunities this year brings to elevate your member experience. Thanks to our exceptional team, 2024 was a milestone year for The Ranch. From outstanding culinary offerings to record-breaking events like the 2024 Rodeo, we’re building momentum for an even better 2025. This year’s calendar includes member favorites like the Club Championship and high-profile concerts, plus continued growth in private events. Membership growth remains vital to the club’s success. We encourage you to refer friends, family, and colleagues and to consider including Wing & Barrel Ranch in your estate planning. Contributions to the Wing & Barrel Endowment will support veterans, conservation, youth, and women, ensuring a lasting impact for generations. Looking ahead, we’re enhancing the hunting fields with new motts and preparing exciting upgrades, including electric side-by-sides, solar power, and seven new cabins for youth camps and events. Our conditional use permit discussions aim to expand facilities with event spaces, polo fields, and more, while a wetland conservation initiative may provide resources to further these projects. We are pleased to announce that Pilar Oldham and Jacob Bower will be stepping into the role of Interim Co-General Managers of Wing & Barrel Ranch. Their leadership, dedication, and vision have been invaluable to our success, and we're confident in their ability to guide the company toward continued growth and success in the year ahead. Lastly, I’m thrilled to share plans for Wing & Barrel Ranch 2.0 in Tennessee, where we’ll develop a hunt club and golf course on 2,000 acres. Details to come!

David Chad was born and raised in Redwood City, and comes from a third- generation Bay Area family. His grandparents and mother moved to the area in the late 1940s. David grew up with a passion for outdoor activities like mountain biking, dirt biking, snowboarding, and fishing, which laid the foundation for his love of nature and adventure. David attended Chico State, where he began hunting at age 22. He also started as an intern at Decker Electric during college and has since helped the company grow from $10 million in revenue to over $250 million. David and his wife, Lisa, have been together for over 30 years and have three children: Colin, a junior at Chico State; Kelsey, a freshman at TCU; and Kendall, a sophomore at Sacred Heart Prep. He looks forward to enjoying the club’s amenities, including the long- range course, and spending more time with his family at their vacation homes in Tahoe, Park City, and Pebble Beach.
Mike Kruger was born and raised in Marin County, where he currently resides with his wife, Lindsay, their two children, Ford and Ella, and their dog, Coach. Mike’s passion for hunting began at 17 but was temporarily sidelined while he focused on school and sports. In 2014, his interest in firearms reignited when his mom pursued a career in K-9 Search and Rescue, leading him to explore pistols and immerse himself in the hunting world. While visiting Lindsay at Texas A&M, Mike had the
From a young age, Nic Delyon has had a deep passion for fishing and hunting, which continues to drive his love for the outdoors. As an avid bird hunter and shooting sports enthusiast, he also enjoys savoring good food and wine. Joining Wing & Barrel Ranch offers the perfect opportunity for Nic and his wife, Katie, to relax, make new friends, and create lasting memories with their two young children, ages 7 and 9. With his longtime hunting partner—a 14-year- old Labrador now retired from the field—Nic is excited to work with the experts at the
Originally from Sydney, Australia, Sean Engel grew up in Marin County and now lives in Tiburon with his wife, Carly, and their dog, Rafi. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Sean was an Academic All-Pac-10 Varsity Crew member and part of the 2010 Varsity 8+ IRA National Championship team. He was also a member of the Under-23 National Rowing Team in 2009 and continues to support the sport as a board member of Friends of Cal Crew. Outside of work and family life, Sean enjoys playing golf, staying in shape, hunting with friends, and traveling. He’s an avid sports fan, following the NFL, PGA Tour, F1 racing, and Bay Area teams like the 49ers, Warriors, and Giants. Sean is also passionate about supporting Team Impact, an organization that helps children with chronic illnesses, and he’s looking forward to being an active member of our community.

In addition to hunting, Mike enjoys golf, rugby, and football, but most importantly, he values being a dad. Mike and Lindsay are eager to join Wing & Barrel Ranch to connect with like-minded individuals who share their passion for hunting, outdoor traditions, and teaching their children to shoot, fish, and enjoy the best of Sonoma’s food and wine.

Scott + Anna Zhu
Carl + Stephanie White Carl and Stephanie White, lifelong Californians, are avid wing shooters and active members of a duck club in Gustine, about a 2.5-hour drive south. With limited shooting opportunities in Marin and Sonoma, they are eager to join Wing & Barrel to keep their skills sharp and connect with like-minded enthusiasts. Their 16-year-old son is also an avid hunter, and they see this as a fantastic opportunity to share their passion for shooting. Their 14-year-old daughter is interested in starting to hunt, and the ranch’s proximity provides a great opportunity for her to try it out. Carl hunts with their 4-year- old Boykin Spaniel, and they are excited about the opportunity to access professional boarding and refresher training. Additionally, they look forward to enjoying Wing & Barrel’s renowned food and wine programs, offering them the chance to explore the best of the region’s wines. Carl and Stephanie are excited to become part of the Wing & Barrel community and share these experiences with their family.
Dan + Kathy Boas
Jonathan + Signy Wade
Scott Zhu and his family relocated to Tiburon from Miami about a year ago and have been thoroughly enjoying the change. Scott, his wife Anna, their two sons, Parker and Teddy (both avid young anglers), and their dog, Bear, are always out exploring the natural beauty of the Bay Area. Whether it’s hiking local trails or spending weekends in Sonoma, the Zhu family embraces the outdoors together. Professionally, Scott co-leads healthcare private equity investing for H.I.G. Capital’s upper middle market fund. Outside of work, he stays active by biking, hiking, and playing golf. He also enjoys relaxing with a good cigar and a glass of wine. The Zhu family is excited to immerse themselves further into the sporting lifestyle, particularly honing their fly fishing skills. They are looking forward to becoming part of the Wing & Barrel Ranch community, where they can refine their techniques, make new friends, and enjoy all the amazing experiences the Ranch has to offer.
Dan Boas is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and has lived here for most of his life. After graduating from Chico State, he began working at Decker Electric in San Francisco, where he has remained ever since. Dan and his wife, Kathy, have two daughters, Kendall (23) and Brooke (21). One works alongside him at Decker, and the other is studying at CU Boulder. In his free time, Dan enjoys golfing, mountain biking, hiking, and traveling with Kathy whenever possible. He’s also an avid skier and has visited many of the top resorts across the U.S. This winter, Dan and his family are excited to head to the French Alps for a skiing adventure. Dan first heard about Wing & Barrel through two of his closest friends, who attended charity events at the ranch. Kathy visited the club a few months ago and gave high praise, further fueling Dan’s interest in becoming a member. He looks forward to the opportunity to join Wing & Barrel and become an active part of the community.
Jonathan’s journey is one of entrepreneurial success and a passion for the sporting lifestyle. In 1999, Jonathan founded Battea, a financial services company he grew until his full exit this September. His move to Barcelona in 2016 introduced him to fellow member Charlie Baxter, who invited him to our clay circuit. One visit was all it took— Jonathan was captivated. An avid traveler, he takes annual trips to Hungary and Eastern Europe for wing and driven game shoots and is eager to hone his skills with guidance from our exceptional staff. Jonathan brings his German Shepherd, a loyal protection animal, to the club for training and camaraderie, and he’s especially excited for bird hunts with our talented dogs this season. His late father, a lifelong member of the Armed Services, instilled in him a love for shooting, a passion he’s eager to share with his daughter during sessions at the Ranch.
