Maximizing Your Multi-Meters and Powered Probes 10/1/22, 1:30pm - 4:30pm Class #214, DeVos Gallery Overlook G This course is for the Rising Star/Future Star Technicians in your shop. If the last course you had was in vo-tech or technical school, then this course is for you! This is not a theory course. Rather, we will show when to perform a specific test for a specific problem. Our instructions are clear and concise keeping shop productivity and efficiency in mind. Testing methods covered: Backprobing vs. piercing vs. scan tool readings; sensor reference, signal, and ground; battery SOC and charging; parasitic drain with amperage; voltage drop vs. available voltage; when to test using duty cycle and frequency; when a test light is faster; dealing with mA and k-ohms; and when to use DCV or ACV.

Fundamentals of Starters & Alternators 10/1/22, 1:30pm - 4:30pm Class #223, DeVos River Overlook A This course begins with a dive into voltage drop and how it effects each system's operation supported by a brief discussion of Ohm’s Law. We will explore the different types of starters, how they function, and common failures. This course will also cover a brief overview of start stop systems, then move into the do's and don'ts of basic system operation of alternators. Finally, common failures and how to prevent them will be discussed.
