Coming Soon Four more projects are also at various stages of planning and deployment related to an updated business intelligence platform, the Banner CAPP system, the cross-campus timetabling system and a new customer care system based on artificial intelligence: • An upgraded Argos Analytics business intelligence platform since the Campus IT Services unit relocated the system to a newer server and testing was able to resume. • The Banner Curriculum, Advising, and Programme Planning (CAPP) feature was deployed for roughly 95 graduate programmes and is ready to receive final Faculty inputs. • Timetabling and CELCAT Beta Testing were halted as the cross-campus team opted to for a more suitable time- tabling alternative. • A customer care delivery system supported by Amazon’s Alexa that would, among other things, allow students to ask questions in various language varieties and receive on- demand responses.
with the Bursary to streamline the transition of the Student Accounts & Receivables Section to the Service Desk to better support the handling of queries and upgraded Banner 9 to ensure compliance with the new CRM. The new Campus website was launched with a new look in line with our sister campuses to achieve a OneUWI presence, and with a new programme search function. CITS also engaged staff members in the new Volunteer@ CITS programme launched in November 2021. The six month programme run from February to August 2022 provided interested staff with the opportunity to acquire new skills in aspects of Information Technology such as eLearning, network operations and support, network security, web support and software development on the Banner and Peoplesoft platforms. Operational Updates The Occupational Health, Safety and the Environment (OHSE) Unit, among other things developed 19 Emergency Response Plans for various departments and began work on another 24 plans for other operational areas. Along with the Human Resources, Security and other teams aligned to the Office of the Campus Registrar (OCR), the OHSE unit also significantly assisted in the management of student and staff-health related incidents. In addition to its already heavy burden, the Campus Legal Office provided significant input to the cross-campus [JAF1] deliberations around procurement and data protection issues, and gave guidance on all legal matters to do with the handling of COVID-19 cases on the Campus. Supporting Digitalisation – Campus IT Infrastructure
The Campus IT Services (CITS) integrated the Zoom web- conferencing product into the eLearning environment and allocated licences as required to academic and other staff members. The CITS team worked with the Registry to implement the Ellucian CRM solution ensuring its integration with the existing Banner Student System and remote VPN access was implemented for all staff members. The wireless upgrade project at the Faculty of Engineering was completed as were upgrades to the Evisions data handling software to integrate the Analytics module, and to the PeopleSoft system to improve single sign-on authentication for users.
