changes to leave policies From Oct 1st 2021 the following changes to our leave polices will take effect. All changes apply to employees who have two years’ service, for those with less than two years’ service, the terms of our existing policies apply.

Sick Leave For employees who must take leave due to illness the following will apply.

Adoptive Leave Qualifying adopters can take adoptive leave. A qualified adopter is either: The sole adopter, in the case of a parent who is adopting a child on their own, or the nominated parent in the case of an adopting couple. The leave entitlement is 24 weeks statutory leave with the option of taking 16 weeks additional leave. Payment of up to 75% of normal pay will now be made for the 24 weeks of statutory adoptive leave, payment is inclusive of social welfare benefit. Paternity Leave New parents (other than the mother of the child or the nominated adopter) are entitled to a block of two weeks paternity leave following the birth or adoption of a child. Employees can start paternity leave at any time within the first six months following the birth or adoption placement. Full pay will now be made for the two weeks of paternity leave. This payment will be inclusive of social welfare payments.

• Full pay for two months. • Half pay for four months.

Following six months of continuous absence from work due to illness, an application for permanent health insurance cover will be made.

Maternity Leave Female employees are entitled to 26 weeks’ statutory maternity leave with the option of taking 16 weeks additional leave. Payment of up to 75% of normal pay will now be made for the 26 weeks of statutory maternity leave, payment is inclusive of social welfare benefit.
