Did you know San Diego is home to the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade west of the Mississippi? The Irish Congress of Southern California plans all year to put on an incredible Irish festival, complete with Irish step dancers, fold singers, bands, a Celtic food village, a beer garden, craft booths, and a kid zone. Catch the huge parade first thing in the morning and spend the rest of the day enjoying the festival with your family. You won’t find a better place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day outside of Ireland! Cherry Blossom Festival Where: Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego, Columbia When: March 22–24; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: $12 Website: Niwa.org/cbf19/ The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and you and your family are invited to the Japanese Friendship Garden’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Tour the beautiful gardens as you participate in workshops, check out the tea garden, try some delicious street food, and get creative in the arts and crafts area. There will also be live cultural performances including traditional folk dances, Japanese pop music, taiko demonstrations, and many more. Mark your calendars because you don’t want to miss out on this amazing experience.

7th Annual International Mariachi Festival Where: Bayside Park, Chula Vista When: Sunday, March 10; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission: Free Website: MariachiFest.com Renowned mariachi groups and award-winning student groups across the United States and Mexico are gathering in San Diego for a day of music and fun. In addition to the live musical performances, there will also be a massive family area with face painting, extreme water sports, games, and plenty of delicious food and drink. Presented by the National City Chamber of Commerce and the Unified Port of San Diego, this culture event aims to support today’s youth and celebrate San Diego’s Mexican heritage.
