Ceramiche Supergres, has always been extremely focused when it comes to sustainable building issues, creating products that are able to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) points, the system of parameters created in the United States to measure the eco-sustainability of buildings. This is the most used system in the USA and is now starting to be adopted in over 40 countries across the world. It is based on the award of points to access the eco- sustainability of a building: from water recycling and energy saving to the use of building material created using recycled materials all the way through to the comfort of the space. Public bodies are becoming increasingly committed to insisting that materials that achieve LEED credits are used during construction of new buildings, to better promote the development of eco-sustainable architecture. In light of this, thanks to the eco-sustainable features and high qualities of the recycled material used in the body of the porcelain stoneware, Ceramiche Supergres products contribute to increasing the LEED scores of a building they are used in, in the following areas: materials and resources, sustainable sites, transparency and optimization etc. (see chart “LEED Credits” that follows).
Ceramiche Supergres, da sempre molto sensibile alle tematiche dell’edilizia sostenibile, realizza prodotti che consentono di concorrere all’ottenimento di punteggi LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) , il sistema di parametri nato negli Stati Uniti per valutare l’eco-sostenibilità degli edifici. Questo sistema è il più adottato negli USA e si sta diffondendo in oltre 40 Paesi del mondo. Si basa sull’assegnazione di punteggi funzionali a valutare l’eco-sostenibilità di un edificio: dal recupero dell’acqua al risparmio energetico, dall’utilizzo di materiali da costruzione realizzati con materie riciclate al comfort degli spazi. Sempre più gli enti pubblici, nella realizzazione degli edifici e nella determinazione dei vincoli all’interno dei piani casa che deliberano, richiedono l’utilizzo di prodotti in grado di fornire crediti LEED per meglio favorire lo sviluppo di un’architettura eco-sostenibile. In quest’ottica, i prodotti di Ceramiche Supergres, grazie alle proprie caratteristiche ecosostenibili ed alle elevate quantità di materiali di riciclo utilizzate nell’impasto del gres porcellanato, contribuiscono ad aumentare il punteggio LEED degli edifici in cui vengono impiegati, nei seguenti ambiti: materiali e risorse, siti sostenibili, trasparenza e ottimizzazione, ecc (vedi tabella “Crediti Leed” riportata di seguito).

The light-colored tiles of the Supergres range, used in outdoor areas, help reduce the heat island effect (the thermal gradient difference between urban and suburban areas) to minimize the impact on the microclimate. Supergres dispone di una EPD certificata da un ente esterno indipentente.
DISPONIBILITÀ DI EPD CERTIFICATA. L'EPD rappresenta una sorta di carta d'identità dei prodotti e ne descrive l'impatto sull'ambiente durante tutte le fasi del ciclo di vita: dalla fase di estrazione delle materie prime, fino allo smaltimento. FONTE DI MATERIE PRIME E SEGNALAZIONE DI ESTRAZIONE. Utilizzare prodotti provenienti da almeno tre diversi produttori, che rispettano almeno uno dei criteri riportati, per almeno il 20% in costo, del valore totale dei prodotti da costruzione installati in modo permanente nel progetto. (1 punto) Utilizzare prodotti provenienti da almeno cinque diversi produt- tori, che rispettano almeno uno dei criteri riportati, per almeno il 40% in costo, del valore totale dei prodotti da costruzione installati in modo permanente nel progetto. (2 punti) Contenuto di materiale riciclato. Prodotti che rispettano il requi- sito del contenuto di materiale riciclato sono valutati al 100% del loro costo per il calcolo del raggiungimento del credito. - Il contenuto di materiale riciclato è dato dalla somma del contenuto di riciclato “post- consumer” + ½ del contenuto di riciclato pre-consumer, basato sul peso. - Il contenuto di riciclato va poi moltiplicato per il costo, per determinare il contenuto complessivo di riciclato. TRASPARENZA NELL'USO DEI MATERIALI. Opzione 1. Report degli ingredienti dei materiali. Utilizzare prodotti installati in modo permanente che utilizzano uno dei seguenti programmi per l’inventario chimico del prodotto, per sostanze con concentrazione maggiore o uguale a 0,1% (1000 ppm). Declare: l’etichetta Declare dovrà rispondere ai seguenti requisiti: - Rispondere al requisito “Red List Free” oppure “Declared”. - Essere conforme ad LBC (Living Building Challenge) e dimo- strare un inventario fino allo 0,1% (1000 ppm). Opzione 2. Ingredienti dei materiali – ottimizzazione (1 punto): Inventario e verifica avanzati (valutato al 100% del costo, oppure 1 prodotto). - Etichetta “Declare” valutata come “Red list Free”, verificata da ente indipendente di terza parte. - Percorso Internazionale Alternativo – REACH Optimization. CERTIFIED EPD AVAILABLE. EPD can be thought of as a virtual identity card for products and describes their impact on the environment during all stages of the life cycle: from extraction of raw materials to their disposal. RESPONSIBLE SOURCING OF RAW MATERIALS. Use products sourced from at least three different manufacturers that meet at least one of the responsible sourcing and extraction criteria below for at least 20%, by cost, of the total value of permanently installed building products in the project. (1 point). Use products sourced from at least five different manufacturers that meet at least one of the responsible sourcing and extraction criteria below for at least 40%, by cost, of the total value of permanently installed building products in the project (2 points). Recycled content. Products meeting recycled content criteria are valued at 100% of their cost for the purposes of credit achievement calculation. - Recycled content is the sum of postconsumer recycled content plus one-half the preconsumer recycled content, based on weight. - The recycled fraction of the assembly is then multiplied by the cost of assembly to determine the recycled content value. TRANSPARENCY IN THE USE OF MATERIALS. Option 1. Material ingredient reporting. Use permanently installed products that use any of the following programs to demonstrate the chemical inventory of the product to at least 0.1% (1000 ppm). Declare : the Declare product label must meet the following requirements: - Declare labels designated as Red List Free or Declared. - Declare labels designated as LBC Compliant that demon- strate content inventory to 0.1% (1000 ppm). Option 2. Supergres products do not release any volatile organic substances (VOC) into the environment.
To reduce the concentrations of chemical contaminants that can damage air quality, human health, productivity, and the environment. Products that are an inherently nonemitting sources of VOCs (stone, ceramic, powder-coated metals, plated or anodized metal, glass, concrete, clay brick, and unfinished or untreated solid wood flooring) are considered fully compliant without any VOC emissions testing.
