Colonel Caroline Whi tt le at Commemora ti on

Commemora ti ng Queen’s The Queen’s School’s 2025 Commemora ti on Service celebrated 147 years of educa ti on. This year we were privileged to welcome our guest speaker Colonel Caroline Whi tt le ‘89 . Caroline is a Colonel in the Bri ti sh Army Reserves and re fl ected on the varied and unexpected turns her career had taken since leaving school — from her early ambi ti ons in veterinary science to her current leadership role in the military. She encouraged pupils to embrace adaptability, value their educa ti on, act with integrity, and lead with kindness. Her words o ff ered inspira ti on and reassurance, reminding the audience that life paths may shi ft , but purpose and character remain enduring guides. The service concluded with a symbolic and hear tf elt tradi ti on: the Year 13 leavers, now o ffi cially the Queen’s School alumni of 2025, led Lower School pupils out of the Nave — a fi tti ng tribute to the strength of connec ti on across genera ti ons of Queen’s girls. Prize Giving 2024 We welcomed Dr Elizabeth Su tt on ‘13 as a guest speaker to our Prize Giving ceremony in September 2025. Elizabeth is now working on an amazing research project as a Post ‐ Doc at the University of Liverpool, called the MicroAge II project. It in ‐ volves growing human muscle which will be sent up to the Interna ti onal Space Sta ti on from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in order to use micro ‐ gravity as a model of premature human muscle ageing. Elizabeth shared, “As I re fl ect on it being over 10 years since I le ft Queen’s, I can appreciate all the school did for me. As a fi rst ‐ genera ti on graduate, Queen’s and its sta ff gave me the con fi dence and self ‐ belief that anything was possible. For that I am truly grateful, and I de fi nitely think I have fi nally earned the ti tle of a woman in STEM!” Welcoming our newest alumnae The academic year began with the tradi ti onal Michaelmas Supper, celebra ti ng the Class of 2024 as our newest alumnae. Over a delicious meal, the evening o ff ered a special opportunity for students and teachers to re fl ect on shared memories and las ti ng bonds. The message was clear: no ma tt er where life takes them, Queen’s leavers remain part of a lifelong community. Alumni Rela ti ons Manager Mrs McDonnell welcomed them into the wider global network of Queen’s alumnae, reminding them of the many opportuni ti es ahead — from alumni events and mentorship to con ti nued support and connec ti on. Reunions We were thrilled to welcome back alumnae from the Classes of 1975, 1985, and 1995 for milestone reunions fi lled with laughter, memories, and meaningful connec ti ons.

The Class of 1975, led by rep Catherine Jones , returned to Queen’s on Commemora ti on Day for a poignant service, followed by a joyful reunion complete with stories, laughter, and hear tf elt talks. The Class of 1985, celebra ti ng their 40th reunion with rep Jane Bingham , included alumnae visi ti ng from overseas and stepping back inside the school for the fi rst ti me in decades. Jane shared her thanks for a special day, delicious food in the Dining Room, and a cake that was a true highlight. Meanwhile, the Class of 1995, led by Liz Evans and Laura Ogilvie ‐ Jones , enjoyed

reconnec ti ng during their 30th reunion and are keen to keep the momentum going, looking ahead to both the 150th anniversary events of The Queen’s School and their own 40th in ten years’ ti me. The friendships forged at Queen’s truly stand the test of ti me. It’s these las ti ng connec ti ons that con ti nue to inspire our alumnae to return and relive the memories that shaped them — because once a Queen’s girl, always a Queen’s girl.
