Towards a greener future
Housing Choices Australia is developing a Sustainability Strategy based on leading best practice, which includes a framework that embeds sustainability across our operations and includes leadership development and technical expertise in sustainability as well as education and training to promote a culture of sustainable practices.
Sustainability projects across our portfolio, this year include: • Energy procurement: identifying and investigating opportunities and solutions for bulk procurement for Housing Choices and our residents. • Natural hazards risk assessment: collating comprehensive data of key natural hazards both current and future; informing our risk assessment, mitigation strategies and priorities.
Upcoming sustainability projects include:
• Greenhouse Gas Emissions: understanding and measuring our direct, indirect and value chain sources.
• Embodied Emissions: measuring carbon across the lifecycle of our assets from raw materials to divestment.
• E ciency Rating: establishing baseline measurements and benchmarks for thermal and energy performance across our portfolio to improve outcomes. • Climate Change: preparing for potential impacts, adapting approaches to design and construction and enhancing adaptability and resilience of our existing portfolio.
