Housing Choices Australia - Annual Report 2022-2023

Health, safety and wellbeing

There were 148 safety reports from staff over the past financial year, which was a 16% increase compared to 128 reports in the previous year.

Notably there was an increase of 74% near misses reported, which prevents injuries from occurring through the timely implementation of corrective actions. Our improvement in reporting culture also indicates an enhancement in our safety culture.

The implementation of our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Annual Management Plan saw the fruition of key initiatives: • A review and improvement in our safety systems for the prevention and reduction of occupational violence and aggression risks, including new procedures, online induction, and de-escalation training. • A Health, Safety and Wellbeing intranet page was developed to enable employees to easily find procedures and guidance relevant to their role.

• A Team Talk quarterly Health, Safety and Wellbeing newsletter was developed to provide updates on safety systems and training.
