SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS
India
This loan initiative in India is dedicated to empowering marginalized individuals, including those who are underprivileged, disabled, or residing in rural areas, by providing support for launching small businesses and offering essential skills training.
Our approach with the partner in India involves funding a significant portion, 80%, of the startup capital needed for these businesses, while the remaining 20% is contributed by the beneficiaries themselves. In most cases, the maximum seed money allocated to an individual or family is Rs. 10,000 (AUD185). With this vital seed money, our beneficiaries have embarked on various entrepreneurial journeys, establishing grocery stores, tiffin outlets, poultry farms, goat rearing enterprises, and tailoring businesses. This seed money serves as a lifeline, enabling beneficiaries to initiate a new and hopeful chapter in their lives. Without this opportunity, many would continue to face a future devoid of prospects. From August 2021 to September 2023, we are proud to have assisted 107 families in starting new businesses in the Jambulingapuram panchayat of Tamil Nadu, India. To be eligible for this seed money, recipients must have a monthly income below Rs. 5,000 (AUD 90), and they may be widowed or disabled individuals whose income also falls below this threshold. Moreover, participants are required to display a willingness to acquire necessary skills and familiarize themselves with basic financial literacy programs offered by DAIA, our valued partner.
