En la actualidad, a pesar de las divisiones entre las culturas psicoanalíticas y teniendo en cuenta su pluralidad teórica y clínica, existe un amplio consenso en lo que atañe a las emociones del analista y a su influencia por parte del paciente y por parte del propio analista. Esto deja al descubierto la complejidad y la dimensión humana, multifacética y esencial del trabajo del analista.
