MINISTRIES DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT The mission of the Ministries Department is to provide training for each student to participate in multiple, meaningful ministry opportunities that have the potential of significantly impacting the lives of others. MINISTRY PHILOSOPHY Full participation in the Word of Life Bible Institute program entails participation in various ministry opportunities, which enable students to put what they're learning in the classroom into practice in real-time, real-world settings. The goal is for students to not only learn principles from God's Word, but also to learn how to apply these principles in everyday life in service to God and others. In light of this goal, every student is assigned to a ministry team on which they will serve throughout the school year. Freshman Students Every freshman student has the opportunity to participate in one of our tryout ministries, which include sports teams, music teams, and gaming ministry. Students who are not selected for a tryout team will be assigned to a more general ministry team that will provide opportunities to help with local church youth events, Word of Life Reverb events, retreats, and other evangelistic outreaches. Additionally, every freshman student sits through a ten-hour accredited course and is taught how to take everyday conversations and direct them towards spiritual matters, ultimately culminating in the sharing of the gospel. The year culminates with the Freshman OAE trip to New York City, in which every freshman student joins a 4-5 day trip to the city to participate in several day of organized street evangelism. Sophomore Students Sophomore students, who already possess varied ministry experience due to their completion of the freshman program, are provided with some unique ministry opportunities. In addition to tryout ministries and general ministry teams, sophomore students may participate on Church Support Ministry teams. These are teams of students that are sent out each week to churches in the local area to help in any way possible, often serving as youth leaders, praise team members, and Sunday School teachers. The goal is that sophomore students will be challenged to consider the importance of the local church and the need for people to leverage their spiritual gifts for the good of the local body. Through sports, drama, music, gaming and consistent weekly involvement in local churches and our campus community experience, students are provided with a wide range of experiences that will best prepare them for a future of service, with a special emphasis placed on ministry in and through the local church.

SAMPLE MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES Note: Ministry offerings vary at teaching sites.

Snowcamp Each weekend during the winter, Word of Life Bible Institute hosts up to 430 young people at our New York campus and 100 at our Canadian campus for Snowcamp. Many students have the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to practical experience as camp counselors. The students will be involved in every aspect of the camp from counseling, to working on maintenance, to running the program. Those at the Florida teaching site will counsel in their winter camping program. The Unseen The Unseen is the name of our worship bands. These bands are given the opportunity to be involved in a wide variety of ministry events such as campus worship services, weekend ministry trips, Missions Conference, Snowcamp, and tours. There will likely be 1 male vocalist and 1 female vocalist in each band, and the typical instruments played in The Unseen are acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums, with an occasional cajon, banjo, violin, or something out of the ordinary. There will also be 1 tech member per band. Students in this group will constantly be placed in roles of leadership, inviting a congregation to worship God through song, so it is vitally important that their lives off stage
