C hef Kahyeme took inspiration from his parents at a young age. As he helped his father to sell BBQ chicken at the market, he would wash dishes, watch, learn and absorb not just the skills but the passion for cooking that would take him forward in his career. He told us that his mother and father are both excellent cooks, and have always been full of encouragement and a great source of inspiration to him. Cooking is a family skill, so it felt only natural For Chef Kahyeme to continue this legacy forward. Chef Kayheme explained that diversification has been the key to growing his business. His company does a little bit of everything, offering private dining services, personal chef services, restaurant menu consultation and catering for larger events. The next step for Chef Kayheme is to start providing cooking classes for both adults and children, teaching locals and visitors alike, how to cook traditional Antiguan dishes and more. His plans to build a commercial kitchen in order to do this, are well underway, so keep an eye on his website where the latest information will be posted, and maybe next time you visit Antigua you can take part in a group cooking class and immerse yourself in the culinary culture of Antigua, learning skills you can take back home with you and utilise long after your trip.
