Ship’s Store Update
Happy New Year from the Ship’s Store staff of Deb deVries, Ellie Everitt, Michele Niblack, Kerri Pakalnis, and Joanne Chute. We want to thank all of the Club members for their positive response to the reopening of the Ship’s Store on October 30 and the introduction of the “honor system” purchase process! In general, the system has worked really well. Due to staffing and structural challenges because the Store is open whenever the Club is open, I predict the “honor system” is here to stay. We have made a change to the form we are using that I would like to explain to all of you. We have changed the form to be used for not only Purchase but also to accommodate Return, and Exchange. Think of this form informing whomever is processing it, and providing the directions needed to charge your account correctly. Also think of this form letting the Ship’s Store Staff know what merchandise is in or out of inventory. I have included a sample form for you to look at so you can see how easy it is to complete. We are still in process with understanding and documenting all processes and procedures and at this time we cannot do any credit card sales which impacts being able to sell to MIYC staff. This is temporary and we appreciate the staff’s patience.
We picked merchandise suppliers from whom ideally we can order more of the same if we run out of sizes. We can’t guarantee that we can get you the item you want, but we will certainly try. We have a “wish list” book next to the terminal where you can write down items you would like in a different size or color, and also items you would like to see us carry. We do carry Member only items such as 12”, 14”, 16” burgees, Club pins, Club bullions, Club ties and we special order Bridge shirts for members. Those items are not on display. Please ask about these items by contacting any of the Ship’s Store Committee members. Since we opened, we have received some new Susquehanna glassware including more martini glasses and double old fashioned glasses. There are some new YETI low ball drinkware. In addition, we have new clothing items: the very popular Women’s fleece drape cardigan in white and now in black as well; Women’s slickers; Men’s windbreakers; and Women’s and Men’s golf shirts. And we got a small supply of what were ordered as Youth caps but seem larger and are in the not-to-be-found anywhere color of white! Check it out!
