Clinical: The faculty/student ratio does not exceed one nursing faculty member per eight students (1:8 ratio) in Oregon as per OSBN policy. Practical nursing students are assigned to preceptors during the final term of the program. The final term is a practicum experience in which the student practical nurse is immersed in the professional role and practices nursing care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse preceptor. It is preferred that the student practical nurse be assigned to a full-time licensed nurse. If needed, a student could be assigned two part-time licensed nurses, one as a primary preceptor, the other as a secondary preceptor. A faculty nurse educator is assigned to monitor

The Nurse Administrator is responsible for making clinical assignments. This ensures that the correct ratio of students to a nursing instructor occurs per individual state policy.
