Preceptors. These Clinical Preceptors play a role in supporting student learning and facilitating the nursing practice experience within the DEU. At this time, the college does not utilize Clinical Preceptors at this time, but will be reviewing in October of 2023 at the committee meetings. This proposed policy has not been reviewed at this time as the college is reviewing if it would meet standards of other approval agencies.
Based on the initial analysis, the following draft criteria has been established:
The following guidelines outline the use of Clinical Preceptors in DEUs:
(A) Orientation and Guidance: Faculty members are responsible for orienting and providing ongoing guidance to the Clinical Preceptors in the practice sites. This orientation includes aligning the Clinical Preceptors with the program goals, teaching strategies, learning outcomes, and expected competencies of the students.
