the assistance of the nursing board and the Office of Degree Authorization, we ensured that their educational journey was not interrupted and they could continue their studies without unnecessary setbacks.
Additionally, when the main campus of Concordia closed in Portland, Sumner College provided in-house $5,000 academic grants to Concordia nursing students who were displaced. This gesture exemplifies our commitment to supporting students, even beyond our own institution, and helping them overcome unexpected challenges that may arise during their educational journey. In 2022, Sumner College demonstrated its commitment to supporting students and awarded over $80,000 in scholarships, recognizing the importance of providing financial assistance to deserving students and helping them pursue their educational goals. These scholarships play a vital role in ensuring access to quality education and opening doors of opportunity for a diverse range of students. Our focus on serving a diverse population reflects our belief in equal opportunity and inclusivity. We understand that individuals from various backgrounds bring unique perspectives and enrich the learning environment. At Sumner College, students from diverse communities and cultures come together with the shared goal of pursuing a rewarding career in nursing. We are proud of our efforts to provide financial support, facilitate educational transitions, and create an inclusive learning environment for all students. As we continue to serve the community, we remain dedicated to nurturing a diverse student body and helping individuals achieve their professional goals. Sumner College currently leases 30,000 square feet of space located at 8338 NE Alderwood Rd, including the recent addition of 9,000 square feet of space within our campus. This space is currently undergoing renovations and is nearing completion. Once finished, it will house a new skills lab and prep area, a simulation lab (to be completed in the fall of 2023), an open lab, and administrative offices for our staff.
Sumner College has been dedicated to the local community, the state of Oregon, and the northwest for almost 50 years. In 2022, the college received approval for their bachelor of science in nursing program, to further address the commitment to the nursing shortage in the community.
