The new press has full UV capabilities, allowing for a wide variety of inks and coatings to be used in addition to printing the front and back simultaneously. The company has also purchased a new Baysek rotary anvil die cutter, slated for installation in early 2018. Frankston Packaging , Frankston, Texas, has been tracking data and tweaking existing equipment effec- tiveness. They also continue to expand their flexo- graphic operation. Harwal Group Orders Second Bobst 20SIX CI Flexo Press In 2014, Interplast, based in Sharjah, United Arab Emi- rates, was the first member of the Harwal Group to pur- chase a Bobst 20SIX CI flexo press. It was the first Bobst 20SIX press in the UAE and also the first 20SIX press in the Gulf Cooperation Council, which used smartGPS technology in the flexible packaging industry. Recently, Riyadh Plastic Factory Company (RPF), also an associat- ed company of Harwal Group, signed a contract for a Bobst 20SIX CI flexo press to extend their capacities for the production of flexible packaging. Both presses are used for printing films (LDPE, BOPP, CPP, PET), foil, laminates, shrink sleeves, PVC twist wraps, metalized twist wraps and wax paper, wrap around labels, gift wraps, shopping bags and flower wraps. The second press ordered by Riyadh Plastic Factory Company is almost identical to the first one commis- sioned in 2014, featuring ten colors, and a print width of 1,450 mm, printing speed up to 500 meters /per minute and maximum repeat of 1,200 mm. Affinity Packaging Installs Bobst Diecutter Affinity Packaging, based in Leyland, Lancashire, UK, has invested in a NOVACUT 106 E Autoplaten diecutter from Bobst.

SCIENCE of flexo rollers and sleeves

The

Skilled flexo printers know any variation in temperature, humidity, substrates and a host of other conditions will affect the quality of their work. Cleanliness of lines, accuracy of colors and softness of shades can make or break a job. But if you want to maximize profits, you need to optimize uptime, speed and quality. The anilox rollers and sleeves in your presses are only as good as the science behind them—the technology of precision . ARC rollers and sleeves are built to exacting OEM dimensions, with cell geometries engineered for efficient ink usage and precise volumes. CV Labels Installs First Mark Andy Digital One In UK CV Labels, Irvine, Scotland, has installed a Mark Andy Digital One press as part of a major investment program in technology and a new extension at its headquarters. The company, which was founded in 1989, moved into the pharma market in 2008, fol- lowing a major decline in Scotland’s electronics sec- tor, which moved manufacturing to Eastern Europe and Asia. “Our plan is to double our sales by 2022, which is why we have just added a new 7,000-square- foot production hall dedicated to digital print — it will complement the three f lexo presses we have,” Co-Founder and Owner Robert (Bob) Veitch commented. The decision to move into digital print was largely prompted by the ever-shortening run lengths that CV Labels is experiencing, with some jobs requiring as few as 100 to 200 meters of substrate. Servo Driven The servo driven Digital One is a dry toner-based press, that is designed to offer high-quality at an entry level investment. It has a 330mm web width

and can handle a variety of substrates, without the need to use the full web width, according to Mark Andy. It prints CMYK at 1200dpi at speeds up to 19 meters per minute, while its flexo station can add spot color, varnishing, laminating, or cold foil, before die cutting and slitting. It is fitted with an air- cooled LED-UV lamp, and requires only a single- phase power supply. CV Labels ordered a Digital One at Labelexpo 2017 in Brussels, Belgium, and it was installed in November.
