Object Lessons

The second key is yellow and has musical notes on it. It has to do with the worship of God’s people. Definite instructions were given in preparation for the worship of God. There were the various offerings which showed how a holy God could receive the worship of sinful people. The third key is green and has tools on it which speak of work or service. The one who has been cleansed from sin can worship and serve the Lord acceptably. Next week we shall hear more about these keys. OBJECTS: The white key from the last lesson and a cardboard door. (Make the door double so that words may be written on the inside and seen when the door is opened.) LESSON: Last week we talked a little about this white key, mentioning the fact that it was to remind us of the walk or conduct of God’s people as told in the Book of Leviticus. You will remember that we were told in Leviticus 19:1b, “ . . . Ye shall be holy: for I the L o r d your God am holy.” , Today we have a door which the white key unlocks. On the inside we see two words, “ priest” and “ peqple.” In Leviticus 8:6 we are told, “And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.” God expected the leaders of His people to be clean in their walk or conduct. In the seventh verse of this chapter we are told about the clothing of the priest. In the 12th verse we read about his being anointed with oil, “And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.” The word “ sancti fy ” meant to set apart for God. In order that Aaron and his sons might realize that they were set apart for God, Moses took blood and put it upon the tip of Aaron’s right ear, upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. that, or listening to unclean words after having his ear anointed with holy oil, or walking in sinful paths after having his toe thus anointed. Now, regarding the people we read in Leviticus 18:2-5, “ Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the L o r d your God. After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordi nances. Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the L o r d your God. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the L o r d .” Since Christ came, we do not have the ordinances of Israel but the Lord

OBJECTS: A keyring with several keys and a large cardboard ring with three large cardboard keys. (One of the cardboard keys should be white with the picture of a pair of shoes on it.
Another should be yellow with musi cal notes on it. The third should be green with tools pictured on it.) LESSON: Look at these keys! What are they used for? “ To open locks,” someone says. Yes, and it is important that you have the right key for a certain lock if you wish to unlock it. I have another ring with keys on it. These keys are more important than the keys I first showed you. The first keys shall some day be laid aside for the locks they fit will be changed, but these last keys will never be changed. They are the keys to a very wonderful book in the Bible — the Book of Leviticus. The first one is white and has a pair of shoes on it. It unlocks the treasures of truths God desired His people should know regarding their walk. It has always been God’s de sire that His people “ . . . walk wor thy of the vocation wherewith ye are called” (Eph. 4:1b). In Leviticus 19:2b we read, “ . . . Ye shall be holy: for I the L o r d your God am holy.” The word “ holy” occurs 87 times in the Book of Leviticus in different forms. God did not want them to live worldly and sinful lives. In 2 Corinthians 6:17 we are told, “Wherefore comp out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord . . . .” •

OBJECTS: The yellow key from two lessons ago and a cardboard door. (Make the door as before.) LESSON: Today we have the yellow key which I showed you before, say ing that it reminded us of the wor ship of God’s people in Leviticus. I want to show the door which the yellow key unlocks. We will call this the door to worship. When I open the door, the first word which is seen is “ offerings.” The children of Israel were told to use the offerings as a part of their worship. In chapter one we see the burnt offering. This
