LESSON: We have the green key which I showed you before, saying that it reminded us of the work of God’s children mentioned in the Book of Leviticus. Here is the door which this key unlocks. This door will re veal ways to work for God as shown to the children of Israel. Our last two lessons have been on ways to walk and ways to worship. Now we shall have a lesson on ways to work. It is God’s plan for His people in all ages to be right in their walk, worship and work. They can not work for God unless they are right in their walk and worship. In the 19th chapter of Leviticus Israel was told how they should reap their harvest. Inside the door we see the word “harvest.” “ And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the L o r d your God” (w . 9, 10). The children of Israel were given commandment regarding three final things which they were to do: “ Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the L o r d ’ s firstling, np man shall sanctify it; whether it be.ox, or sheep: it is the L o r d ’ s . . . . Notwith standing no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the L o r d of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his posses sion, shall be sold or redeemed: e^ery devoted thing is most holy unto the L o r d . . . . And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the L o r d ’ s ; it is holy unto the L o r d ” (Lev. 27:26,28,30). We see three other words inside the door, “ first lings,” “ devoted” and “ tithes.” t God gave His people a promise. “ If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due sea son, and the land shall yield her in crease, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit” (Lev. 26:3, 4). God has a work for those who walk and worship Him rightly. END. HARVEST FIRSTLINGS DEVOTED T IT H E S 0

spoke of Christ in His sacrifice on the cross. Chapter two tells of the meat offering which speaks of the perfect human life Christ lived. The peace offering is m en tion e d in chapter three. Christ is our peace as is men tioned in Ephesians 2:14a, “ For he is our peace . . . . ” In chapter four we have the sin offering, reminding us that “ For he

hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” The fifth chapter tells of the trespass offering which makes an atonement for the .injury of sin. Chapters six and seven give the law of the various offerings. In Leviticus 9:22-24 we are told what happened after Israel had wor shiped according to the command ments of the Lord. “ And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the L o r d appeared unto all the people. And there came a fire out from before the L o r d , and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.” This, about which we have been talking, was the right way to worship, but even though the Lord had been so careful to instruct His people, there were those who did not obey. “And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire be fore the L o r d , which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the L o r d , and devoured them, and they died before the L o r d ” (Lev. 10 : 1 , 2 ). When the Lord gives instructions, we should be careful to follow them.
