Parable from our Childhood continued
A wheelbarrow, built to carry loads, has been left to the power of entangling weeds. The roomy bed, once the pride of its owner, is now almost hidden. Christians who have carried heavy loads have today become surrounded with the entangling deceitfulness of riches and the cares of this life, until unfruitfulness is their lot.
The bright, enticing labels which once helped to sell the contents of these cans have long since disappeared. Piled alone, their attraction is gone. “ Let your light so shine,” Christ said, in order to attract men to salvation. Still unlabelled Christians continue to hide their light and life. “ Some have not the knowledge of God . . . I speak this to your shame.”
This tire on a backwoods junk-heap once provided the footing for the movement o f the tractor that went hundreds of miles in cultivating the soil. Like the feet of many Christians it has stopped going. They need feet “shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” Or see the combine head in the background. W hile once it harvested hundreds of bushels of grain, it is now a piece of scrap metal. W ith “ the harvest truly plenteous” there is little need for scrap metal Christians, but for many to help with the reaping.
