The past year has proved to be some of the best cattle prices we’ve ever seen. I bet we can all agree; it about time. We are seeing lots of quality cattle selling all over the country. It would be nice to see prices stay consistent so everyone can make a profit. Now it’s time to select your sires for this next breeding season. We are very proud of the set of bulls we have to offer and believe they will benefit your cattle operation. All bulls have been backgrounded and developed correct and right with the producer in mind. There is a bull for everyone in this group, whether you are needing a lower birth weight bull, median, or high-performance bull, we’ve got you covered. They are big, stout, and sound. These bulls have been heavily culled for docility, growth, and body structure. We strive to produce bulls that structurally last. ABSENTEE BIDS If you cannot be with us on sale day, phone bidding is available and will be handled in confidence. You can call Riley at (308) 880-0828 or Stephanie (308) 880-0681 and place a sealed bid prior to the sale or you can elect to be on the phone with one of us on sale day. Call us ahead of time so we may discuss your needs and budget. ANNOUNCEMENTS A supplement sheet containing scrotal circumference, actual sale day weights, and Progressive Ataxia (PA) results will be available on sale day. Any announcements from the auction block shall take precedence over the information contained herein. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Terms of sale are cash or a good check. The auctioneer will handle any disputes as to bids. All cattle must be settled for at the conclusion of the auction. Cattle are the property of the buyer as soon as they are paid in full. RIFLE CREEK GUARANTEE All bulls selling are backed by the Rifle Creek Guarantee. All bulls are guaranteed through the first breeding season; defined as the 90-day period from first turnout of bulls. If a replacement bull is not available, credit will be issued at our next annual sale. Credit will be for the purchase price, minus salvage value of the injured bull to be used for the purchase of one replacement bull. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. Reproductive injuries must be examined by a veterinarian. Please keep all proper documentation. This guarantee does not cover death. All claims must be made by October 1st of the current year. HERD HEALTH All Rifle Creek bulls have been expertly cared for with their health at the center. From birth to sale day all bulls have been on a complete mineral program, completely vaccinated, and dewormed for internal and external parasites. Bulls have been on high roughage diet since weaning and free choice Sandhills prairie hay. Every bull offered for sale have passed a complete breeding soundness exam, tested negative for BVD and TRICH and will be furnished with the proper paperwork if crossing state lines. DELIVERY Rifle Creek Cattle Company offers free delivery up to 250 miles of the ranch. Please call Riley to discuss delivery outside the radius and he will assist you in mileage rates. Delivery will be at the buyer and seller’s agreement. Upon checkout let the office know if you plan on taking your purchase on sale day and you will receive $100/discount per bull. We bought this RCR Cool King sire from Donald Runft in 2021 at the Strnad Annual Bull Sale in Kansas as a yearling. He continues to produce calves with high performance, growth, and fertility. Calving Ease Maternal (MCE) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births in first calf daughters. A higher value indicates greater calving ease. It predicts the average difference in unassisted births with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. Total Maternal EPD (MTL) A value to predict the weaning weight performance of calves from a animal’s daughters due to genetics for growth and maternal ability. Total Maternal is calculated by adding ½ the WW EPD to the Maternal Milk EPD. Terminal Sire Index (TSI) The AICA Terminal Sire Index (TSI) is a formal method of combing Expected Progeny Differences (EPD) – BW, WW, YW, REA, CW, MARB and FAT – into one single value on which to base selection decisions. The TSI uses estimates of the genetic relationships between traits with an economic default value based on three year rolling USDA data. The TSI represents a dollar index per terminal progeny produced for a bull in the AICA database, ranking them for profit potential. This dollar index is to be interpreted much like single trait EPD. For example, if Sire A’s index is $191.66 and Sire B’s index is $200.00, then we would expect Sire B’s offspring to average $8.34 more net return ($200.00 minus $191.66) than Sire A’s offspring.
Calving Ease Direct (CE) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births in first calf heifers. A higher value indicates greater calving ease. It predicts the average difference in unassisted births with which a sire’s calves will be born when bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW) The expected difference in average birth weight (pounds) of progeny. Birth weight reflects prenatal growth. Power, power, power! Impressive in his phenotype. A thick deep-set bull that is consistent in his build all through out. He’s got a straight back and is good footed. I thought I would end the catalog with this bull because he has by far the most above average percentile rankings in the whole book. He comes in the top 8% for TSI. This bull just does a lot right, that you can’t go wrong. He has LT on his maternal side and Jehu on his paternal side. He’s consistent all the way through with his growth and his numbers reflect it.
