through the new birth. It is couched in the language of grace, not of law : ((I beseech you ” writes the apostle. The great motive for obedience to the exhortation is not fear, but gratitude: W e are to be moved "by the mercies of God.” Now all this was written for just one purpose—to urge upon every Christian believer the solemn duty of pre senting his body to God. It really belongs to God and will be redeemed from all in firmity, and finally will be raised from the dead and glorified. It is to be valued, there fore, not despised and mistreated. An officer from the Orient was visiting America, and one day while looking about a big city, he saw a man stop a milk wagon. “ Is he going to arrest the man?” asked the officer. “ Oh, no,” was the answer. “ He must see that the milk sold by this man is pure, with no water or chalk mixed with it.” “Would chalk or water poison the milk?” asked the visitor. “ N o; but people want pure milk if they pay for it.” At the markets they found a man looking at the meat to see if it was healthful. Not long afterwards, the two passed a saloon. A man came staggering out, struck his head against a lamp-post, and fell to the sidewalk. “What is the matter with “ Yes, a deadly poison,” was the answer. “ Do you watch the selling of whiskey as you do the milk?” asked the officer. “No,” was the reply. “ I can’t understand your country,” said the officer. “ You watch the meat and the milk, and let men sell whiskey as much as they please.”— The Christian Herald. If we have something very precious, we keep it in a good place and are careful of it, aren’t we? Do you remember the story of Daniel and what good care he took of his body? He knew that his body belonged to God, and he wanted to take the best possible care of it. He even disobeyed the king’s command and refused to take any of the rich food that he knew would harm his body. He proved to the king’s servant that he could be stronger and work better if he took good care of his body. And because he did this, he honored God and was honored by Him. Our memory verse today is a good rule for us to remember. Sometimes we don’t remember when we do something which is bad for our body that we are harming any one but ourselves. But we are. W e are dis honoring God who gave us our bodies as a dwelling place of the Spirit. Can you tell me some good ways to take care of these bodies of ours?

Object Lesson C lear or C loudy

Objects: Four eggs, two narrow jelly glasses, a small bottle of denatured alcohol, and a tin cover to fit one of the glasses. (Cover the fronts of the glasses with grey paper, leaving a hole in each the shape of the profile of a person’s head. Put a red cross on the tin lid.) Lesson: I am going to break these eggs and put two of the wffiites in each glass. (The profiles should be* near enough to the bottom to be filled by the whites.) These glasses remind me of two boys I know. They both had clear heads. In other words, their brains were good. One of these glasses makes me think of a boy who accepted Christ as his Saviour. I will put this lid, with the red cross, on this glass, to remind us of the boy who is a Christian. The other boy refused to accept Christ as His Saviour. It was not long until this [ Continued on page 67]

our bodies are not the most important part of us, but they do have an important work, and because of this, they should be well taken care of. Lesson Story: Our bodies are the temple of the Spirit. Our story today says: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
