Specialist Nursing – Renal Nestor Rena, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Nephrology, Tallaght University Hospital “I work in Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) which is affiliated to Trinity College Dublin. My Postgraduate Diploma was fully funded by TUH. Also, my daughter is studying in Trinity. TCD offers a combination of face to face and online lectures that provides flexibility and balance for a very busy life as a student, employee and a family man. I worked as a Clinical Nurse Manager during my postgraduate course, and [the course] did help me in my role as a manager in promoting change in my department. My confidence has grown in difficult situations and dealing with my staff, patients and other colleagues. Five months after completing my studies, I was lucky to get the post for Clinical Nurse Specialist. It really opened up a lot of big opportunities in my nursing career. I got to meet a lot of professional and mature students, like me, and took the opportunity for networking. I enjoyed lectures and being given the opportunity by the lecturer to have an open discussion and challenge the subject.”
Breda Blessing, Staff Nurse, University Hospital Limerick

It uniquely blends a rich history with a vibrant campus culture that embraces tradition and innovation. The rigorous academic curriculum gave me a strong foundation in cancer care principles, patient care and the latest research. I developed essential clinical skills. Interacting with a diverse cohort enriched my understanding of various cultural approaches to care. This has been invaluable in my day-to-day practice. The comprehensive curriculum allowed me to blend theoretical knowledge with practical skill development, giving me the tools to excel in my field. The supportive community fostered collaboration and growth, making a significant impact on my career and personal development. Overall, it was a transformative experience that has helped shape my approach to cancer care.”
