Hear from a Graduate Bláthnaid Buckley, Senior Speech and Language Therapist “I chose to study at Trinity as they offered a comprehensive and holistic programme with a variety of clinical placements. The option to study part-time and from a remote setting was also key as it enabled me to continue my employment on a full-time basis. Palliative Care is not just about death and dying - it is an approach to working with our patients across the lifespan from the moment of a diagnosis right up to the end of life. This mindset shift for me has been so profound, both personally and professionally. I have taken a lot of the skills acquired from this course and applied them to both paediatric and adult populations that I work with in speech and language therapy. The course has benefitted my career immensely, not just in how I approach clinical scenarios but also in building relationships with patients and colleagues alike. The part of my course I enjoyed the most was the clinical placement. I was afforded opportunities in all levels of palliative care - from general to specialist - and across a myriad of settings (residential, acute, outpatient and hospice). Being able to learn directly from a diverse range of staff who were so passionate about palliative care was incredible. I will be forever grateful for this transformational time in my studies.”
