King's Business - 1921-02

THE K I N G ’S BUS I NES S SOMETHING TO ANSWER FOR One of our readers writes to ask our brother will be saved or lost, and relates the following incident. The brother was very sick, and when at the point of death,, members of the family realized that he knew nothing of Christ and sal vation, and none of them being able to handle the Word of Life, the Methodist minister of the town was sent for in great haste. The minister Was told that a young man was dying and neded to be told about Christ. The minister was just about to sit down to the breakfast table, and replied, “I will come, but I must eat my breakfast first.” An hour later when he reached the home to which he had been called, the young man had passed into a Christless eternity. The young man who writes us has since made sure of his own salvation and is equipping himself to tell others the way of life. But as to his own brother, he is sorely perplexed. He says, “This minister’s breakfast was more im portant than my brother’s soul. How do you suppose our Lord will Judge a case of this kind?” We know of but one answer found in the Word of God. “No man-cometh unto the Father but by Jesus Christ.” And what about the minister who had no love for souls or sense of his respon sibility to the flock over which the Holy Ghost had made him an overseer? “If thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at thine hand.” How many min isters today realize that in taking the oath of a minister of Christ they made themselves doubly responsible for the souls of all within their reach? What a price will those have to pay who have assumed these responsibilities and yet are not even preaching the Word, which upon their solemn oath they said they would defend to their dying day?

128 ing to Christ many who otherwise prob ably never would have been reached. God has been glorified and will be glori fied in his death even as He has been in his life. Surely this is just as Mr. Alexander would have had it, and may the Holy Spirit spread the influence of this man until every member of the Pocket Testament League shall have a consuming passion to win the lost and hundreds shall have been saved. Many remarkable stories concerning Mr. Alexander and his work are being told and some of these we hope to pub-- lish later. The F. H. Revell Company are announcing a new book to be ready December 1st entitled “Charlie Alexan der,” and written by his old friend and co-worker, Philip I. Roberts. This is said to be a fascinating recital of soul inspiring incidents that will be a great incentive to evangelistic endeavor. We pray that God will use this book to fan the fires of a mighty revival.—K. L. B. POINTED PARAGRAPHS ABOUT THE K. B. I am so thoroughly convinced of the merits of The King’s Business that I have at various times subscribed for it to be sent to friends whom I wished to have the benefit of this helpful maga zine.—Geo. F. Sayers, Pierre, S. D. Enclosed find $2 from two men who have been enquiring where I got so many pithy and pungent sayings for my plat form discourses. I camouflaged as long as I could and then I told them and gave them a copy of your splendid magazine. I am praying for you and the widest dissemination of your Godly and valu able paper.—John M. Derrick, Canton, Ohio. I wish our denominational publica tions had the same courage and integrity In publishing Bible truth that The King’s Business has. I wish I could af ford to send out many subscriptions.— W. J. Hatfield, Wagoner, Okla.
