Delegates kept coming and coming, some of them with letters from the mis sionaries of the stations from which they came apologizing for letting them come unannounced, but still they came until the number reached 211, the largest en rollment we have ever had. We were almost “at our wits’ end,” as to where to house them all. The fact is, we were greatly overcrowded, but the men took it all very nicely, and fortunately, yes, I truly believe, Providentially, the weather was exceptionally cool, the coolest Sep tember I have ever known at Nanyoh, and best of all, God was truly with us and blessed us.

Dr. Keller’s Work Triumph in the Works of HIS Hands “For Thou, Jehovah, hast made me glad through THY work: I will triumph in the works of THY hands.” Ps. 92:4. What a glorious thing it is to see God working! And how wonderful it is that He is willing to work through us, and not only willing, but in fact this is His own determined way of working. Then too, He not only works through us but also for us. The past few weeks have brought us many tokens of how God has been working for us, accomplishing things that were utterly beyond our power. The text at the head of this letter was my text for the day a couple of weeks ago, and I decided then to put it at the head of my next letter to you, but now I want to add to it today’s text which is a most fitting companion to the text above, and expresses a thought that naturally follows: “Oh that men would praise Jehovah for His loving kindness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” (Ps. 107:8.) I want this letter to be a song of praise to God, and earnestly hope that every reader will be able to join me with glad heart in thanksgiving and praise. Praise For Peace Conditions' At the close of the school year, last June, the war conditions in Hunan were so bad that the Nanyoh Bible Conference seemed an impossibility and we did not send out the usual announcement and in vitation to attend the conference. Dur ing the summer peace was restored to the province, the former excellent Military Governor succeeded in driving out the invading northerners, and Hunan began such a period of peace, prosperity and happiness as she has not experienced for some years. As soon as we saw that a conference would be practicable we sent'word to the workers in our six Biola Evangelistic Bands to meet us at Nan yoh at the usual time, and planned to go there for a comparatively small con ference with our own workers and stu dents before beginning the year’s cam paign.
