139 sure that the acceptance of the Lord in the boy’s heart was real. Another Family Rejoicing As the afternoon was drawing to a close a very tired worker thought she would make “just one more call.” After a moment or two of conversation with the lady who came to the door, she was led to say, “I wonder if you are a saved woman?” The reply was, “No, I am not but if you can tell me how to be saved, please come in.” There was a glad response to this most unusual an swer to the worker. As the plan of sal vation was unfolded she drank it in and accepted it as simply as a child. She said, “As a family we are all unsaved but I cannot remember when I didn’t want to know about those things, but.no one ever asked me the question you did. I have never heard before what you have told me. Now you must go to my mother before it is too late.” This mother is now also rejoicing in Christ. Loosed From Eddyism There is no life that is not touched, more or less directly by the false cults of the day. The colored laundress em ployed in the home for a time recited her experience with Christian Science. Or rather, we might say, the attempt on the part of an ardent Scientist to make it an experience but she had been too satisfied with the simple Gospel to be snared. However, she had a friend who was trying hard to take it up. We talked with her and showed her the simplest outstanding false assertions of Christian Science as compared with the words of God. A -Pocket Testament and tracts were given her with the prayer that she might be used in bringing the real Light to her friend. This friend could neither read nor write, but the laundress faithfully read and explained to her with the result that Christian Science lost forever a convert and in heaven there was joy among the angels. Hers was a real conviction. The Comfort of the Word The foundation of our class work in the houses, is the Bible. It is marvelous to see its effect in the lives of those it touches. One lady, heart-broken over the death of a beloved only son and losing all interest in life, was persuaded to join a Bible study class held in her neighborhood. She came but did not take much interest. Gradually the truth, light and comfort of the Word broke through her grief and one day she testified that it was the Bible that had saved her rea son.

THE K I NG ' S BUS I NES S and the consciences of their Jewish hear ers. At the close of the meeting an in vitation was given to the unconverted Jews present to believe in and receive Jesus Christ as Messiah. Four Jewish people present responded to this earnest invitation. Others, though greatly moved by the testimonies of Hebrew Christians and the messages of the evening, were not quite fully persuaded to take the de cisive step. These need our constant prayers as the things a Jew is compelled to suffer for the name of Christ are not easy to bear. * Bible Women’s Work Mrs. Lyman Stewart, Supt. “Ye have need of patience.” It is a good motto for the Bible woman while she waits for the Holy Spirit to do His work in a heart rebelling against Him. Several years ago there came into one of the classes a woman who was steeped in Spiritism of the most attractive type. Being warned by our hostess of her un willingness to receive any personal mes sage, the Bible woman waited and prayed, and prayed and waited, until the Word of God has done its own work, and after the class one day the woman herself sought an interview and de clared her acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. There was still much rubbish to be most carefully re moved, and that was also left to the Holy Spirit through His word . Today the woman is a most zealous worker for the class, and is already branching out into personal work. A Boy’s Problems The Bible lesson with the Pocket Tes tament Club was ended and the boys, as was their custom, had “adjourned to play ball,” and I sat, as was also my custom, in the deserted room, lifting my heart to God for His blessing on the work, when the door opened and one of the boys came hesitatingly back. “I wanted to ask you some questions,” he said, “but I was afraid to do it while the boys were here; was afraid they would laugh at me.” And then the boy of four teen opened his heart to me, asking re garding the problems which come to every boy’s life, and concerning which he so sadly needs to have help. How could he subdue the evil thoughts that come to a boy in the quiet hours? Would Jesus Christ forgive those thoughts? and many kindred questions. And as I showed him Jesus Christ as the power of God to keep as well as to save, some way I felt
