John 20:31. “These things are writ ten that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that be lieving ye might have life through His name.” ^ WHAT IS THE FAITH REQUIRED? It is acceptance of the plain testimony of the Bible. It' is appropriating its re vealed truths concerning salvation to your own life. It is stepping out on the truth. It is fixing one’3 expectancy in the Bible promises and putting Jesus Christ to the test. But how do we know the Bible is true and that Jesus Christ can truly save? This question Jesus answers with a chal lenge: “If any man will do His will he shall know of the teaching, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of my self.” (John 7:17). Thousands, have accepted the challenge and have received “the witness of the Holy Spirit” within them as promised (1 John 5:10). He has never failed an honest seeker. REMEMBER ONE THING God’s Word is the only foundation for salvation. “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17). “Receive with meekness, the Word which is able to save your souls” (Jas. 1:21). “Being born again, not of perishable seed, but by the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever” (1 Pet. 1:24). Suppose you are about to drown in the Niagara River. Floating beside you, you see a log. On the other side you spy a rope which someone on shore has thrown out. That rope is firmly an chored to a tree. The log is floating to ward the falls. It is larger than the rope. Will you grab for it? No—take that which is securely anchored. The Word of God is anchored to the shores of Eter nity. It has stood the test of ages. The notions'of men are varying and utterly insecure. They are passing away con tinually. Throw yourself on the Word of God which abides. Any other salva tion is purely of the imagination. Accept Jesus Christ as your Sin- bearer” (John 1:29). Give up trying

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him (Jesus Christ,! Pet. 2:24) the iniquity of us all.” (Isa. 63:6). The passage begins with ALL; ends with ALL; has EVERYONE in the mid dle. Everyone—ALL—who are without Jesus Christ are under condeinnati .n (John 3:18). Why are men lost? They have “turned to their own way.” To be lost is simply to take the wrong road. Your own way may be refined and perfectly satisfactory to you (Prov. 14:12) but your way is not God’s way, no matter how good your way may seem. Those are lost who are rejecting God’s revealed way. They make God a liar, for God says: “He that believeth not the record God has given of His Son hath made God a liar.” (1 John 5:10) God has put up a sign-board pointing to heaven. He tells men that Jesus Christ is “the WAY, the Truth and the Life” _ and that “no man cometh to the Father" but by Him.” (John 14:6). Men can not ignore God’s appointed way and choose one of their own devising.- “Climbing up by some other way” (John 10:1) is out of the question. Isa. 55:7 exhorts men to “forsake their own way and their own thoughts, and return unto the Lord.” The next verse tells us why, “for your ways are not His ways.” WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? John 3:5 says “Ye must be born again. That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” What is this “new birth”, and how is it accomplished? It is a new, a heavenly life, implanted within ns by the Holy Spirit Who comes to dwell in us (1 Cor. 6:19, 20; Tit. 3:5-6) This is made possible through faith in the finished work of Christ. (John 3 il6 , 18, 36) That work of Christ . is revealed in the Bible.
