glory” [Col. iii:4}). 4. “For the Son of man shall come in the glory of the Father with his angels” (Matt. xvi:27). 5. '“And His feet shall stand in that day (the day of battle against the na tions besieging Jerusalem) upon the mount of Olives which is before Jeru salem on the east.” (Zech. xiv:4.) 6. “And then shall that wicked one be revealed whom the Lord shall con sume with the spirit o{ His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming” (the epiphany of His piesence) (2 Thess. ii:8). 7. “And He laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years” (Rev. xx:2). 8. “And they (the saints) lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years” (Rev. xx:4). Pre-millenarians say that. They say it because Scripture says it. Pre-millenarians stand or fall with what the Bible says. They say no more. They say no less. If what the New Testament says Is an error and, therefore, false, what pre- millenarians say is false. The quickest way to overthrow pre- millenarians is to demonstrate that what the New Testament says, it does not mean and, therefore, what it says has no authoritative value. Professor Mathews denies the New Testament means what it says, and therefore the pre-millenarian statements to.be found on almost every page of it have no value. Thus what pre-mille narians say is of no value because what the New Testament says is of no value. It is all very simple and very mathe matical, of course; Just demonstrate the New Testament does not mean what it says about the Second Coming and that the pre- millenarianism which it proclaims on almost every page has no authoritative value, and you prove what pre-mille-
DOES TH E B IB LE MEAN WHAT IT SAYS? Prof. Shatter ' Mathews asks, “Will Christ come again?” and then most naively answers: “Never in the sense that pre-millenarians today assert.” In view of such an answer it may be well to note the “sense” in which pre- millenarians do assert it. Pre-millenarians assert the following as their “sense” of the Lord’s Coming: 1. The Lord will coxae from heaven as “this same Jesus” who was taken up into heaven., 2. He will come for His Church as when a thief comes. 3. When He appears in glory with His Church every eye shall behold Him. 4. The angels will come with Him. 5. He will come to the mount of Olives. 6. He will overthrow the man of sin, the Antichrist. 7. He will bind the devil for a thousand years. 8. After His Coming and imprison ment of Satan He will set up His King dom and reign with His saints on and over the earth. Pre-millenarians say that. An examination of Scripture will show it says just what pre-millenarians say. Hear what Scripture says: 1. “This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven” (Acts i: 11). 2. “I will come on thee (on the Church as represented by the angel or pastor) as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will arrive over thee” (Rev. iii:3). 3. “Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him” (Rev. 1:7). (This is after He shall have re ceived the Church to Himself and ap pears with her, as it is written: “When 'Christ who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in
