Rural Palates : reviews

AREZZORISTORANTEANDBAR Westport, CT Arezzo Ristorante and Bar, settled on the banks of the Saugatuck River across the bridge from Main Street in Westport, has enhanced several features and is more en- joyable than ever. New additions to the res- taurant include a voguish bar and a smokin’ hot pizza oven that presents fresh wood- fired pizza for lunch and dinner. The bar, with its warm aura created by subtle lighting and comfortably furnished stools and couches, offers light fare such as crusty focaccia robiola di Arezzo with white truffle oil; and rosemary marinated shrimp skewers that melt on the tongue, as well as fine wines and cocktails. Mov- ing to the main dining area you will almost always find owner Juan Ceballos graciously meeting and seating diners in his extremely welcoming manner. Whether first time or repeat patrons, all who come are made to feel by Juan and his well trained staff as if

they are long time amici. Appetizers and entrées consist of specialties from all parts of Italy, such as the hearty Tagliolini Nero Frutti di Mare, which is a home- made squid ink pasta abundantly topped with the “fruits” of the sea; Cotoletta di Vitello alla Milanese pounded to perfection and topped with arugula salad; or a simple yet succulent Bistecca. Attention is paid to the details as executive chef Vinicio Llanos meticulously crafts each dish to please even the most discerning of palates. This rustic yet elegant restau- rant will leave you feeling as if you have just dined by the sea in Tuscany, with its authentic food and relaxed Italian ambience. 5 Riverside Ave., Westport, CT. 203/557-9375 www.arezzowestport.com *
