“can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth him.” * * * S ide -L ights “ Christ in you, the hope of glory.” “ Holding forth the word of life.” “ Redeem the time.” “ Instant in season and out o f season.” “ Study to shew thyself approved unto God.” “ Trust in the Lord with all thine heart.” “ In all thy ways acknowledge him.” “ Adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.” “ Neglect not the assembling of yourselves together.” “ Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit.” “ Not slothful in business.” “ Distributing to the necessity o f the saints.” “ Enter into his courts with thanksgiving.” “ Abhor that which is evil.” It is more to the honor o f a Christian soldier, by faith to overcome the world, than by a monastical vow to retreat from it; and more for the honor of Christ, to serve Him in a city than to serve Him in a cell.— Matthew Henry. A Christian is a man in Christ. “If any man be in Christ.” A Christian is a man for Christ. “Glorify God in your body and spirit, which are God’s.”— Rich ard Fuller. February 9, 1930 Ways of Studying the Bible 2 Tim. 3:14-17; 2:15 S uggestive O rder of S ervice One week prior to the meeting, request all members to bring their Bibles. Opening Songs: “ Standing on the Promises,” “I Love to Tell the Story.” Sentence Prayers. Scripture Reading. Call for members to take the passages given in the following outline: What To Do With Your Bible 1. Study it Through—Josh. 1 :8. Satan has a million devices for drawing one away from the Bible. Joshua, the busiest of men, did not fall into the devil’s net. 2. Pray it in—Ps. 119:18, 27, 33, 34, 38, 125, 169. Ask the Holy Spirit to read the Bible to you. 1 Cor. 2:10, 12; Jno. 16:13. 3. Put it Down—Ps. 119:103. To get the full benefit o f the flavor turn the morsels over in your mouth. Working out studies on paper is most beneficial. 4. Work it Out—Ps. 119:15. O f what use is the bull’s-eye if the shooter does “ Vessel unto honor.” “ Occupy till I come.” “ Rejoice evermore.”
Be strong! We are not here to play, to dream, to drift. We have hard work to do, and loads to lift. . . , Shun not the struggle; face it. ’Tis God’s gift. Be strong! Say not the days are evil,—Who’s to blame ? And fold the hands and acquiesce—O shame! Stand up, speak out, and bravely, in God’s name. Be strong! It matters not how deep intrenched the wrong, How hard the battle goes, the day, how long. Faint not, fight on! Tomorrow comes the song. No other enterprise offers such oppor tunities o f worthwhile service as does the church o f our Lord Jesus Christ. Mil lions are going to Christless graves, be cause we in so-called Christian lands are not faithful to the great commission found in Matt. 2 8 :18-20. Sacrifice! O f course! Crusading with Christ centers around the Cross (Matt. 10:38; Gal. 2:2 0). There can be no war fare without sacrifice. But what we call sacrifice cannot be compared with God’s supreme sacrifice in sending His only be gotten Son “to give His life a ransom for many.” The twelfth chapter of Romans has been selected as the C. E. chapter and we discover in the opening verse of the chap ter the call to crusade with Christ by way o f sacrifice: “ Present your bodies a liv ing sacrifice unto God.” In this great warfare against sin, both on the defensive line (keeping sin out of our own lives) and on the offensive (fighting with Christ to keep it out of other lives), we are assured of victory, for Christ is our Captain (Heb. 2:10; Rom. 8 :1 ; Gal. 6 :1 ). • The secret o f victory is to be found “in Christ” (Phil. 3:9—note oft expressions in this epistle of “in Christ” and “in Him,” setting forth the believer’s posi tion). Where there is constant yielding on the part o f the believer, he will find that he

Closing Song—“Take My Life and Let it Be.V | Benediction—L e a d e r repeat Hebrews 13:20, 21. s|e * * T reatment of T opic The word “crusade” is closely asso ciated with Christianity, for its earliest usage was in the ninth century and re ferred to the warlike enterprises under taken by Christians o f western Europe against the Saracens, for the conquest of Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulcher. Even as early as 312 A.D., we could term Constantine’s conversion and its consequent results as a crusade for Christ. Constantine beheld, in a vision, a cross in the sky, with the inscription “ By this conquer.” Constantine, recognizing in this expe rience a supernatural revelation and a di vine call, was converted to the Christian faith and established Christianity as a favored religion. In 324 A.D., under Con stantine, it was enthroned. The Christian life is a constant warfare both in the individual life, and unitedly against the strongholds of Satan (see Eph. 6:13-18; 1 Tim. 6:12; Rom. 7:18- 8:1; 2 Cor. 7:5; 2 Cor. 10:4; 1 Cor. 15: 58; 2 Cor. 6:1-10; etc.). As Maltbie Bab cock wrote: Responsive Reading, Romans 12. Announcements and Offering. Special Number Song.
Uncompromising Thus writes a Canadian: “Personally, I must say I en joy your magazine very much, and look forward for the next issue from month to month. I like it fo r its uncompromising attitude concerning the Truth."
