MOONLIGHT STORIES PIC: MASON DOHERTY
Welcome to Tasmania’s coolest new winter experience.
designed to bring a little edge to your winter calendar. Think DJs, disco lights, food and drinks - all with your skates on.
From June 16 to July 27, MyState Bank Arena will be transformed into a winter playground with SHIVER, a professionally installed, 30-metre ice rink bringing the thrill of ice skating back to Tasmanians for the first time in years. Since the closure of the privately run Glenorchy rink in 2022, there’s been no dedicated ice-skating facility in the state. But that’s about to change. SHIVER is the kind of project people have been waiting for, a real rink, right in Hobart, open daily through the heart of winter. More than just a place to skate, SHIVER is set to be a hub of connection and community. With daily public skating sessions, private hire options, group bookings and children’s birthday party packages, there’s something for everyone. School holidays will see the rink buzzing with families, friends, and visitors ready to rug up and have some fun.
On Saturday June 21, it’s time to Paint the Town Red.
Held alongside Dark Mofo, this special event will see MyState Bank Arena turned crimson, with bold lights and high-energy DJ sets from local favourite Alex Curtain. The bar will be open, and the snacks will be hot.
And when the sun goes down? That’s when SHIVER really comes to life.
