Proudly initiated by the Tourism Industry Council Tasmania (TICT) the Tassie Tourism Ambassador Program is a free, online training initiative developed to empower tourism and hospitality professionals – and passionate locals – with the knowledge and confidence to share Tasmania’s stories with visitors in a warm and engaging way. This fun and accessible program helps participants understand the state’s diverse tourism regions, the value of exceptional visitor service, and the power of storytelling in creating unforgettable travel experiences.
What the Program Offers
Why It Matters
Participants complete a series of interactive modules that include written content, engaging videos featuring local operators, and short quizzes. Upon completion, each person receives an official Tassie Ambassador e-certificate and lapel badge, symbolising their contribution to Tasmania’s visitor economy.
The goal is simple: to increase regional visitation and ensure every visitor leaves with a positive impression. Ambassadors are trained to offer warm, informed, and enthusiastic interactions, helping to spread the word about Tasmania’s rich experiences and boost economic sustainability. “When visitors are greeted with genuine hospitality and a strong sense of place, they’re more likely to return – and tell others.” – Amy Hills, CEO, TICT Program Participants: “I loved the course, it is so informative and provides great information about Tassie but also about storytelling!”
“We can always learn more, and I’m glad I invested the time to see what it was all about... Thank you”.
“It was very well presented and is good for learning more about our island state”.
