B. VILLAGE CENTER This area is the heart and soul of east Sunrise. The recently constructed Complete Streets improvements along Sunset Strip will help to reinforce this role, but a variety of other design features and conditions do not contribute to the “village feel” of the area. These include parking lots in poor condition, limited tree canopies for outdoor dining and pedestrian comfort, the lack of parallel parking to protect pedestrians (where feasible), the lack of a wayfinding system, some inconsistencies in lighting coverage and color, and significant setbacks for structures away from the sidewalks. To help clarify these concepts, we have included some short-term improvement ideas on the following pages.
