Thanksgiving is a unique national holiday because it’s not related to religious creed like Christmas or Easter, or tied to a specific date, such as the Fourth of July or New Year’s Eve. That means our traditions can reign supreme whenever Turkey Day appears on our calendars. Most of us have been doing the same thing every year for Thanksgiving. We wake up early to start cooking a delicious turkey feast, welcome friends and family to our homes, share what we’re thankful for, and watch some football that hopefully keeps us entertained. After many years of participating in the same traditions, you may feel like Thanksgiving is losing its luster. You may wonder what you can do to reignite the spark and make it more special for your loved ones. Create some new traditions! Yet, it isn’t as easy as throwing on some wacky outfit and calling it your Thanksgiving tuxedo. You need to come up with fun ideas for everyone involved and capture the spirit of the celebration. Don’t know where to start? Here are some ideas! You never know what will stick and become a family favorite! Reflect on past Thanksgivings. While certain traditions may have remained, the Thanksgiving celebration has evolved. While sitting around the dinner table, ask your loved ones about Thanksgivings from their youth. You’ll be amazed at how different your parents’ childhood celebrations were from your own now or your grandparents’ from many decades ago. It may give you a greater sense of gratitude for what you have now or spark ideas for new traditions you can restart with your kids. The younger generation will love hearing stories about Black Friday chaos and unusual foods Grandma used to eat with her family, like oysters or mincemeat pie. You never know what you’ll learn about your loved ones! Get away from the TV. Every year, Americans love to tune in and watch dozens of programs on TV, from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and NFL games to the first Christmas movie of the season. However, some people use this as an excuse to sit in front of the boob tube all day. Instead, try to incorporate activities that remove screens from the equation. Play a game of football in the backyard, start a board game, build a puzzle, look through old photo albums, or More Than a Meal REINVENTING THANKSGIVING WITH PURPOSE AND PLAY
set up a craft station for the little ones. If you want to add more excitement to the event, host a pie-baking contest, encouraging your relatives to bring a delicious pie for everyone to enjoy! Give back to the community. Ultimately, Thanksgiving is about gratitude and showing thanks for all we have. If you want to gain a greater appreciation for your blessings, consider volunteering on Thanksgiving. This is one of the biggest volunteer opportunities of the year; many local organizations put on events to feed the unhoused, provide to-go feasts for those who might not be able to afford one this year, and give warm clothes to those in need before the cold weather sets in. If you want to make this Thanksgiving one to remember for your loved ones, find new traditions and activities to keep the holiday fresh. If your family does anything unique for the holiday, I’d love to hear about it! It could even become a new tradition in my household! It’s a win-win: you get a beautifully transformed home at the lowest price we offer all year, and I get to keep my team working through the slow season. Interested? Give us a call today — once the winter schedule fills, that’s it! IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN! Winter Interior Project Special — At Our Cost (No Markup!) After Hurricane Helene hit last year, many clients postponed projects, and we saw the devastation firsthand. To keep my team working and help homeowners get back on their feet, we ran this special — and filled our entire fall and winter schedule in just one month. Though I didn’t profit personally, I was able to support my crew all winter long without a single layoff. So I’ve decided to bring this offer back every winter. From December through February, we’ll take on interior projects only (it’s too cold to paint outside!) at our cost — no markup, just enough to keep our team going. Spots are limited to what we can complete during that timeframe — and they go fast.

MAKING ROOM FOR MULTIGENERATIONAL LIVING A HOUSE THAT WORKS FOR EVERYONE
Multigenerational living is becoming increasingly common, whether it’s aging parents moving in, adult kids returning home, or both. While this type of arrangement can be rewarding for many reasons, it takes careful planning and thoughtful remodeling to make it work well for everyone involved. Balance is the first thing to consider when taking on this type of project. Everyone needs their space, and working with what you already have is the easiest, and least expensive, way to provide that. That might mean converting a basement into a private
apartment, adding a kitchenette to a bedroom suite, or turning an office into a bedroom.
You’ll also want to consider accessibility. If you have aging parents moving in, walk through the property and assess how easily and safely they can move through the space. Wider doorways, zero-step entries, and slip-resistant flooring are things to consider. A walk-in shower, grab bars, and adjustable showerheads in the bathroom can make a world of difference for safety. Don’t forget lighting. Maximizing natural light is ideal, but smart placement of lamps and fixtures also matters. Good lighting reduces the risk of trips and falls and helps make your home feel brighter and more inviting. Finally, storage tends to get very tight in a busy household. Use built- in shelving, under-bed drawers, and tall cabinets to maximize every inch of space. Multipurpose furniture pieces and closet organizers also keep things tidy without getting in the way. You don’t have to start from scratch if you’re remodeling for multigenerational living. Just focus on making smart changes that will make the house more functional and supportive of your family setup. With some adjustments to the layout and a little planning, you can create a space that offers both independence and togetherness, which helps everyone feel at home.
Lighting doesn’t just help you see in the dark. It also affects how a room feels. Often, the right fixture can make everything else around it click. A geometric pendant could be a great option if your space needs a focal point. The clean lines work exceptionally well in open foyers and dining areas. For something warmer and more rustic, try an Edison bulb. They add a unique charm to any space, especially with exposed fixtures. Sometimes, even furnished rooms feel unfinished. A sculptural floor lamp can fill in the gap while making a statement. Look for one that feels more like an accent piece than a utility. Want to add sparkle and elegance? A small crystal fixture will catch the light and your eye. You don’t have to follow any single rule. What matters is that the fixture fits the space and makes it feel more like yours. As the temperatures dip and daylight starts to dwindle sooner in the evenings, staying active often falls to the bottom of the priority list. It’s easy to settle into the routine of indoor comfort with more screens and less movement. However, carving out time for a daily walk, even in the chillier months, is a simple and effective way to stay physically and mentally sharp. Fall and winter are nature’s underrated workout months. There’s something calming about a quiet sidewalk covered in fall leaves or a peaceful neighborhood dusted with frost. The colder seasons offer a refreshing and grounding change of scenery. A short walk outdoors allows you to unplug and take in the subtle beauty that’s easy to miss when you’re rushing from one indoor task to the next. The science of seasonal movement is real. Cooler air does more than wake you up. It makes your body work harder to stay warm, thus increasing the calorie burn of even a casual stroll. That quick burst of movement in the cold can also boost circulation, improve energy levels, and clear mental fog, especially if you’ve been sitting at a desk for most of the day. Create a cozy routine you look forward to. One of the best ways to stay consistent during these cooler months is to make your walk enjoyable. Layer up in comfortable gear, choose a playlist or podcast you love, and set a daily reminder to step outside. Whether it’s 10 minutes around the block or a long weekend loop, consistency matters more than intensity. Make it social, rewarding, or both. If you aren’t feeling motivated solo, ask a friend or neighbor to join you a few times a week. If you prefer going alone, add a small reward: a stop for a warm drink, or the satisfaction of checking it off your daily goals list. These little incentives can make your walk something to look forward to. LESS SCROLLING, MORE STROLLING The Case for a Daily Walk

BUNGALOWS AND BLISS TROPICAL ESCAPES TO SAVOR
Whether you’re looking to book a tropical trip this winter or want to live vicariously through descriptions of dream destinations, this article is for you! From overwater bungalows to swim-up bars, these resorts redefine relaxation in some of the world’s most glamorous getaways. A Spectacular South Asian Sojourn If you want to add flavor to your wintertime festivities with an international jaunt, the Maldives, just southwest of India, is home to some of the world’s most renowned resorts. Celebrated for its spacious rooms, private pools, and “floating breakfasts,” The Ritz- Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, boasts seven restaurants offering a vast array of global delicacies. Another Maldives mainstay, Soneva Fushi, offers some of the largest overwater villas in the world, perfect for viewing the area’s breathtakingly clear waters. And if you’re a fan of exploring tropical travel via social media, you’ve likely caught an eyeful of Instagram favorite Soneva Jani. This Maldives destination provides guests plenty of playful options, ranging from a waterslide to a trip on one of the resort’s seaplanes.
Of course, an extraordinary vacation doesn’t necessarily mean spending time in an expansive environment. Those looking to balance luxury with a low-key vibe should check out Gili Lankanfushi Maldives, a boutique resort that invites guests to lounge on a private water hammock as their worries wash away. Fresh Perks in French Polynesia Outdoor bungalows are also a big hit in Bora Bora. In addition to in-room pools, the Four Seasons Bora Bora resort offers guests a view of Mount Otemanu that all intrepid travelers should experience at least once. Over at the Westin Bora Bora, vacationers can take in the locale’s modern aesthetics while sipping cocktails at its swim-up bar. If you plan to travel with a large group, the two- story Presidential Suites and overwater villas at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui are outstanding options. Not surprisingly, Bora Bora isn’t the only place to visit in French Polynesia. Although the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa tends to book up quickly due to its smaller size, it’s worth trying to get a room for this vacation spot’s famous snorkeling sites alone.
