Cougars into the lead. A third and final power-play offence at the third period midpoint clinched the win for the Cougars. Leading the offence on the goal was Assistant Captain Cody Horner, with help from Crete and Bradley Horner. Crowning the Kings Saturday evening at the Cavanaugh Sensplex, the Cougars crowned the Kanata Kings 3-2 with Liam Lynn opening up the scoreboard early in the second period on a power-play push, with help from Jacob Crete and Cody Horner. The Kings pushed back with two goals to take the lead at the end of the period. Early in third period, Horner tied up the score, with an assist from Garrett Cunning. Ethan Butler punched in the tiebreaker goal midway through the period to put the Cougars back in the lead and win the game. Johnny Kirby provided an assist to Butler`s winning goal. The Cougars are in Westport against the Rideaus October 17 and then return home October 18 to host the North Dundas Rockets.

The Thanksgiving weekend was a «win one lose one» situation for the Hawkesbury Hawks. At home last Friday night at the Robery Hartley Sports Centre the Hawkes lost 4-3 in overtime to the visiting Kemptville 73s. Michael Minchello got the Hawks on the scoreboard first with mid-period goal at the start of the game. Vital Dinis provided an assist on the first-period goal. Kemptville`s Jay Zeus Mbarushimana tied up the a few minutes before the end of the period with help from teammates Cade Campbell and Sydney Loreto. A shorthanded goal by Zachary Venance put Kemptville ahead in the first 30 seconds of second period. Minchello responded with power-play push four minutes later to tie the score up again. Assisting Minchello were Dinis and Xavier Lacoste. Anthony D`Arienzo broke the tie again in Kemptville`s favour soon after, with help from Loreto and Nicholas Voisey. Thomas St-Louis tied the score up again with Hawkesbury`s third goal of the night. Assisting St-Louis on the third-period effort were Jeremy St. Louis and Ben Lacoste. The game moved on to overtime with the winning goal for Kemptville going in the net within 40 seconds of the play, courtesy of William St. James, assisted by Zachary Venance and Eric Sweetapple. Vital Dinis of the Hawks was named third star of the game for his efforts on scoring assists. Hawks versus Lumber Kings Sunday in Pembroke saw the Hawks cut down the Lumber Kings 4-3 in regular game time. The Castors opened the scoreboard in first period of the home game in Vankleek Hill with goal from Jaren Ruperthouse, aided by Riley Webb, early in the first period. It was the last and only goal for the visiting team for the rest of the night. Assisting Genest were Marc-Olivier Lauzon and Colton Henderson. A solo shot on goal by Carter Green extended the lead for the Hawks in third period. A two-goal effort by the Lumber Kings` Dean Carvalho and Evan Greco fell short of tying up the score again, leaving Hawkesbury with the win. Albert Genest and Adam Racine of the Hawks were the first and third star selec- tions for the game. The Hawks host the Carleton Place Cana- dians October 17 at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex.
