our community is geographically dispersed, our connection to Christ’s College remains strong. Having celebrated 175 years as a school, and nearly 150 years as the Old Boys’ Association, the question is: What must we do to ensure we are still here – and still strong – when the time comes to celebrate the next 175 years? For our association, the challenge is ensuring that engagement with both Old Boys and College remains meaningful and relevant. The Old Boys’ Association supports Christ’s College, fosters the continued interest of Old Boys in the school, and facilitates contact and connections. It is a worldwide network of more than 8,900 members, with branches in Australia, London, and throughout New Zealand. It has remained focused on a simple but enduring purpose – keeping Old Boys connected to each other and to the school.
resources to strengthen the College community. The association supports Christ’s College through scholarships and prizes, and has helped fund key developments, including the Memorial Dining Hall (1925), the Chapel reconstruction (1957), the Old Boys’ Theatre (2000), and Upper West in 2025. Christ’s College continues to evolve in response to the changing needs of its students and the wider educational environment while remaining anchored by traditions and values that have served generations well. The CCOBA plays an important role in bridging that continuity – linking past, present, and future, and ensuring enduring good traditions are well maintained. A fitting expression of this is the new College Museum (to which the CCOBA contributed). The museum – established as part of the 175th anniversary year – provides a permanent home for the stories, achievements, and traditions that have shaped Christ’s College over nearly two centuries. It is more than a
record of the past; it is a link between generations. Current students can better understand the legacy they will become part of, while Old Boys can see their own experiences reflected in the wider story of the school. However, at its heart, the CCOBA exists to foster meaningful engagement among Old Boys and to strengthen the connection between Old Boys and Christ’s College. For many alumni, engagement means maintaining friendships formed during their school years. For others, it means staying connected to the College’s direction,
supporting students, attending events, mentoring younger Old
Boys, or contributing expertise. The association exists to support all these forms of involvement, recognising that each Old Boy’s relationship with the school is unique. We want to build on the momentum of the 175th celebrations, carrying that legacy forward for the next 175 years.
