Study history in a department internationally recognised for its contributions to understanding the medieval, early modern, and modern pasts. Explore the history of Britain, Europe, the Americas, or the wider world. Develop a wide range of skills highly sought-after by academic employers, cultural organisations, and businesses. You will have the freedom to explore your own historical interests while producing an original piece of historical research.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • For research postgraduates, access to dedicated new facility providing study, training and social space at the heart of the campus. • Training in advanced research methods and development of transferable skills around historical research, analysis, writing and presentation skills. • Support and guidance from recognised experts across a wide range of historical approaches and topics, including conflict, culture, disability, gender, health and disease, heritage, identity, industry and work, the law, politics, religion, science, and sport.
• Opportunities to produce work in traditional academic formats and to think creatively about how academic research can best engage the wider public. • Membership of a community of students and scholars who explore the significance of the past for dealing with the pressing needs of the present.
