From traditional print and broadcast media to film and television, digital publishing, social networking, and public relations, the media increasingly defines the way we interact with our society. It shapes the way we see ourselves and others, and can be a powerful tool for social change, good or bad. Our postgraduate taught and research programmes allow you to delve into these topics, alongside personalised mentoring from experts in your area of study.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • A key element is the major project or dissertation that enables students to develop expertise in a specific area of interest. • If you are already an industry professional, these programmes offer dynamic new media skills and qualifications to boost your continuing professional development. • The department houses an Adobe Design Suite, Media Creativity Suite and Virtual Reality Lab, these fully equipped computer labs and video studios are kitted out with iMAC computers, Virtual Reality equipment, and industry standard software including Adobe Creative Cloud and Final Cut Pro X.
• You can access the departments fully equipped audio-visual production studios complete with green screen and video editing suites. The perfect chance for you to hone your practical media production skills. • We are home to the Centre of Digital Arts and Humanities (CODAH). The centre looks at innovative ways of using digital tools and methods for investigating different forms of text, data and media, creating interaction between scholars across the humanities and social science disciplines. Over the past years, CODAH has supported various funded projects that transform policy, heritage, people, and practices.
