Recent Events Show the Need for Strategic Broker Advice Over the next ten years, we’ll see a shift towards brokers becoming strategic advisers. And the need is illustrated perfectly by the ongoing ‘tobacco wars’.
The role of the insurance broker is changing, and over the course of the next decade what clients expect from a broker will have changed seismically from the expectations of today. Late last year, we published our groundbreaking research, Ready or Reacting? Shaping the Future of the Broking Profession , which not only highlighted the eight key areas of change, but also brokers’ preparedness for these changes. This enables NIBA as a peak body to help you, our members, better
prepare for what lies ahead, and be fully equipped to seize the opportunities that subsequently emerge. In the last issue of Insurance Adviser, we looked at the topics of the new risk landscape and innovation in insurance products. In this article we’re exploring the notion of the insurance broker as a strategic adviser – something which 77% of people surveyed believe is going to impact the profession over the coming decade, yet one that more than a third (35%) don’t feel they’re completely prepared for.
