Allotment of Sick Days per Employee Category:

 All full time teachers (30+ hours) and part time (20+ hours) will be allowed 8 paid sick days or personal days* during the 2022/2023 school year; part time teachers with less than 20 hours will be allowed 5 paid sick days or personal days during the school year.  All employees on 12-month agreement — including administrative support staff and administrators — will be allowed 10 sick days per each twelve month contract year .

Vacation Days for Employees on 12-month agreement:

 Employees on 12-month agreement, are allotted vacation days [which must be taken during the summer break from the regular school calendar, unless previously approved by the Head of School] according to this schedule: o Between Year 0 – 1: 5 Days [40 Hours] o Between Year 1 – 4: 10 Days [80 Hours] o Between Year 5 – 10: 15 Days [120 Hours] o Between Year 11+: 20 Days [160 Hours]

Paid Leaves of Absence

Bereavement:

Paid bereavement leave of up to three (3) days will be granted when a death occurs in an employee’s immediate family. Immediate family is defined as the parent, step-parent, spouse, child, step-child, brother, step-brother, sister, step- sister, grandchild or grandparent of the employee or employee’s spouse. In case of family members other than those listed above (aunts, uncles or first cousins), employees may take one (1) day of paid bereavement leave to attend the funeral (ba sed on the employee’s normal working hours).

Employees must notify their immediate supervisor immediately of the death and the dates of the employee’s absence from work.

Paid bereavement for up to four (4) additional days may be granted (for immediate family only) to an employee in order to comply with an established religious practice or in extenuating circumstances. The decision to grant or deny a request for additional paid bereavement leave shall be within the discretion of the Head of School. Bereavement leave in excess of that provided under this policy or leave for funerals of those not covered under this policy shall be governed by the provisions of the Paid Leave of Absence or the Unpaid Leave of Absence policies.

Jury Duty / Court Appearances:

From time to time, employees of Levine Academy may be called to participate in jury duty or other court appearances. Levine encourages participation of its employees in the legal process when called upon to so do, yet will also furnish letters of support should both the employee and the School agree that a request for duty postponement is warranted.

Levine Academy will compensate all employees at their regular rate of pay for jury duty during their normal working hours. The employee serving jury duty may retain any amount of daily compensation
