ANCC FOUNDATION DID YOU KNOW?

The “In Memoriam” section of the ANCC website highlights the lives of Members and staff who have recently passed. If you would like to send a submission to honor the memory of a loved one, please contact our Marketing Coordinator by clicking here. You may send a biography, along with photos as well to be added to this section. To read about the lives of those who have recently passed, click here. In Memoriam Playing Through - World War II World War II presented all country clubs with significant challenges. Augusta National closed and used its grounds to graze cows and raise turkeys. The Greenbrier became a detention center for foreign diplomats and correspondents. Other clubs converted parts of their property to crops – primarily vegetables. Secretary’s Message By Col D’Anne Spence, USAF, Ret.

The Army Navy Country Club Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, 7 October 2024 at the Arlington Clubhouse. At the meeting, we will elect Resident Members to the Board of Governors to serve for the period October 2024 to October 2027. Our By-Laws provide that only Resident Members may stand for election to the Board. At this year’s Annual Meeting, we are presently scheduled to elect 13 Governors. We will elect 6 Governors from those Resident Members who are on Active Duty or Selected Reserve Resident status. We will elect 7 Governors from those Resident Members who are in the All Others status. We will ensure that nomination forms are available in the Administration Office and on the Club’s website no later than Monday, 3 June 2024. To ensure the publication of the nomination in the Annual Meeting Packet, we must receive the nomination no later than Monday, 8 July 2024. We will permit nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting, but please advise me of any such notifications prior to the meeting so I can ensure the floor nomination is of a qualified Resident Member. The use of military rank for nomination and election purposes is permissible under Title 10 of the US Code. For example, an Active Duty army officer may identify herself in the form of “CPT Jane Doe, USA,” and a retired army officer may identify herself as “CPT Jane Doe, USA (Ret.). Former military officers may not use their former rank as a preface, but may use their highest wartime rank as follows: Ms. Jane Doe (CPT, USA). I strongly encourage those who are interested in serving on the Board of Governors to familiarize themselves with our By-Laws, Club Rules, and Organization Manual. I am available to answer any questions you might have about this process at danne.emmett.spence@gmail.com or by phone: (703) 835-4108.

Do You Know the Clubhouse Rules of Attire?

As the summer season has officially begun at the Club, we’ve entered one of the busiest times here. When at the Club, members and guests are expected to adhere to the Rules of Attire as outlined in the Club Rules. We’re often asked what this means and with the Rules of Attire having recently been clarified/updated, we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you of some highlights relating to the Clubhouse rules of attire. As a general rule, you must always dress in a manner appropriate for a country club setting, and clothes must be clean, dry, and appropriately fitted. As a member, you are responsible for making sure that your family and guests follow the Rules of Attire as you enjoy the Club. If you see or experience an issue that requires attention, please inform our staff so they may address it appropriately, and if requested, please follow their instructions. Your failure, or the failure of your family or guests, to comply with the Rules of Attire will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Organizational Manual. If you have a question about the Rules of Attire, please send an email to rulesofattire@ancc.org . A full copy of the Rules of Attire may be found on the Club’s website here or by scanning the QR code below:
