In Memoriam Playing Through - World War II World War II presented all country clubs with significant challenges. Augusta National closed and used its grounds to graze cows and raise turkeys. The Greenbrier became a detention center for foreign diplomats and correspondents. Other clubs converted parts of their property to crops – primarily vegetables.
