Education, Experience, Training, and Other Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in an approved discipline; master’s degree preferred.

2. Actively pursuing a master’s degree in an approved discipline.

3. Minimum of ten (10) years of Fire Service experience with increased leadership responsibilities.

4. Actively pursuing or completed the Managing Officer Program (MOP) through the National Fire Academy (NFA).

5. Possess and maintain Professional Rescuer CPR certification.

6. Possess and maintain State of Colorado Hazmat Operations certification.

7. Possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

8. Possess and maintain at least a National Registry or State of Colorado EMT-Basic certification or above.

9. Completed NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 703, 706, and 800.

10. Possess and maintain Blue Card Hazard Zone Command program.

11. Possess and maintain State of Colorado Fire Officer II certification.

12. Possess and maintain upon hire or promotion Fire Instructor II by October 2028.

13. Fire Officer III preferred.

14. ProBoard or IFSAC Incident Safety Officer preferred.

15. Possess and maintain upon hire or promotion the Center of Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation by October 2028.

16. Possess and maintain upon hire NWCG Firefighter 1, S290, S215, and L180 certifications.

17. Maintain qualifications as a driver of required District vehicles and apparatus.

18. Maintain all District-required certifications and training requirements.

19. Possess demonstrable knowledge of all national and local standards, state laws, local ordinances, and regulations that apply within the District and every jurisdiction within the District’s boundaries.

20. Strong public relations skills and customer service skills, to include interactions with other agencies, co-workers, and the public in both routine and emergency settings.
