CHAMPLAIN KICKS OFF WINTER CARNIVAL

This year’s winter carnival is fun for the whole family. The Champlain Winter Carnival will run from February 2 to 25 and will feature several outdoor and virtual activities. A modified program will comply with all local health measures while providing winter fun for the whole family. One online event is the Snow Sculpture Contest. Sculptures can be any size or shape the artist dreams up, and submissions will be accepted until February 24 at 4:00 p.m. Participants can send pictures of their artwork, along with the artist’s name and age, to the Champlain Township Facebook page. Another individual event is the Winter Scavenger Hunt. Find and photograph the five wooden snowmen hidden around the township and send the selfies to the Champlain Township Facebook page by February 24 at 4:00 p.m. Five clues hint at the snowmen’s locations: “A place to learn BOESFBEui.BOZTQPSUTBSFQSBDUJTFEBUUIJT facility”; “A park with the same last name as one of our councillors”; “The oldest in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada”; and “The head office”. We help people find available resources in the community that are needed to assist them in their daily lives. One of our important goals is to empower families/individuals to make informed choices about the supports they seek. SCS is a not-for-profit bilingual organization managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We are seeking volunteers fromwithin the Ottawa and Eastern Region. Ideal candidates have demonstrated experience with Board duties and governance issues and exhibit strong leadership and expertise in such areas as: • Developmental Services; • Non-profit Governance; • Community and Stakeholder Relations; • IT Management; • Legal; • Transformation Management. Cette erreur lui a valu la mention « N’a pas terminé «, ce qui signifie qu’elle ne reviendra pas pour une deuxième manche. La deuxième manche s’est terminée vers 3 heures du matin, heure normale de l’Est (HNE). Hector a remporté l’or avec un temps combiné d’une minute, 55,69 secondes. L’Italienne Federica Brignone n’était que 0,28 seconde plus lente et a remporté l’argent, et la Suisse Lara Gut-Behrami a remporté le bronze à 0,46 seconde de Brignone.

One of the oldest settled villages in Ontario, Vankleek Hill has a rich history. Vankleek Hill is celebrating 225 years of history, and the Vankleek Hill Historical Society is planning a year’s worth of events to celebrate. The HOPE 225 project has already delivered a brand-new logo for the town, unveiled by Champlain Township council on January 13, and event organizers are invited to use the new logo on promotional items. Designed by Pleasant Corner Public School seventh-grader Reagan Hall, the logo features the Higginson Tower and the main theme of the celebration, ‘Hope’. “We are exiting the pandemic in a disci- plined manner, with hope for how we rebuild and move forward,” said Denis Seguin, a director at the Vankleek Hill Historical Society. “Here we are, 225 years later, and hope is what unites us in building bridges to new understandings of what represents our community.” “The 225th anniversary of the Town of Vankleek Hill, so well known for its numerous

The Vankleek Hill Cougars were blown out 8-3 at home by the North Dundas Rockets on Saturday before bouncing back the following day to defeat the St-Isidore Eagles 2-0 in their first two games since December. The Cougars were celebrating their 30 th anniversary during the game against the Rockets on Saturday, and founders Ian MacRae, Charlie Bernique, Garry Barton and Joe Kelly were in attendance. As a part of the Champlain Township Winter Carnival festivities, the first 50 fans were admitted to the game for free and also received free popcorn. The teams seemed pretty evenly matched early on, until the Rockets exploded at the end of the first period, scoring three goals in under two minutes. The visiting team then added another four goals in the second period and another in the third to finally beat the Cougars 8-3. Vankleek Hill did manage to rally and score three goals in the third period to avoid getting shut out. Justin Chaumont scored two goals and Zachary Bigras scored one for the home team, while Brenden Easterbrook, Jérémy Marcotte, Joshua Renaud and Maxim Rozon each scored an assist in the loss. According to Cougars’ Head Coach Franky Dopelhamer, the team built upon their sco- ring outburst at the end of the game to carry that momentum into the game against the St-Isidore Eagles on the following day.
