CHAMPLAIN KICKS OFF WINTER CARNIVAL

This year’s winter carnival is fun for the whole family. The Champlain Winter Carnival will run from February 2 to 25 and will feature several outdoor and virtual activities. A modified program will comply with all local health measures while providing winter fun for the whole family. One online event is the Snow Sculpture Contest. Sculptures can be any size or shape the artist dreams up, and submissions will be accepted until February 24 at 4:00 p.m. Participants can send pictures of their artwork, along with the artist’s name and age, to the Champlain Township Facebook page. Another individual event is the Winter Scavenger Hunt. Find and photograph the five wooden snowmen hidden around the township and send the selfies to the Champlain Township Facebook page by February 24 at 4:00 p.m. Five clues hint at the snowmen’s locations: “A place to learn BOESFBEui.BOZTQPSUTBSFQSBDUJTFEBUUIJT facility”; “A park with the same last name as one of our councillors”; “The oldest in Ontario and the second oldest in Canada”; and “The head office”. Other activities include a free Junior C game on February 5, Arts & Crafts nights at the Champlain Library every Wednesday from 4 to 5 p.m., free access to the cross-country skiing trails over the weekend of February 12

We have such beautiful facilities and a dedicated team in both the Parks and Recreation Department and the Library, and we are pleased to join forces to offer a wide variety of activities

for families. Whether it’s through building a snow sculpture, visiting Champlain’s attrac- tions through a snowman hunt, a glow in the dark skate or a craft workshop for kids, there’s something for everyone!
