Paul Aliprando, Formerly Of MHIA, SUN Automation, Dies At 66 In MD Corrugated industry veteran Paul Joseph Aliprando, for- merly of MHIA and SUN Automation Group, passed away at the age of 66, in Baltimore, MD on August 31, 2023.

He is survived by his adoring wife Carol, his loving children Maria Christine (husband Press Palmer), Mark Logan and John Tullio, his cherished grand- child Scarlett Victoria, his mother Helen, his sisters and brothers, Barbara and Bob Kennedy, Joseph and Lisa Ali- prando, William Aliprando and Leslie Klienfelter, Aida and Tom Stephens. He was predeceased by his son Jake Paper Excellence Announces Curtailment Of Catalyst Paper Mill Richmond, British Columbia based Paper Excellence Can- ada has announced the permanent curtailment of Cata- lyst Paper Tiskwat, its paper mill in Powell River. “It was a difficult decision to curtail Tiskwat indefinitely in December 2021,” said Stew Gibson, Chief Operating Officer. “Following a comprehensive review of options, it has been determined that a restart of a pulp or paper business is not feasible. We now look forward to the rede- velopment of the site.” In the 18 months since the curtailment, most employ- ees took voluntary severance, When fully operating, Cat- alyst Paper Tiskwat employed approximately 200 people.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on December 31, 1956, to Tullio Jo- seph Aliprando and Helen Ann Aliprando, Paul was raised in a strong, traditional Italian family, in- cluding a strong Catholic faith and seven-course holiday meals that lasted hours. He graduated from Fordham Prep in New York City,

and then attended the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was well respected as a Sales Engineer, with nearly his entire career centered on and around the corrugated paper industry. He was passionate about the industry, of- ten made presentations at national conferences, and trav- eled all over the world for his work. He truly loved his long lasting business friends he had made over the years. Paul was also patriotic and civic minded, having served as Asst. Scout Master for Troop 874, Ellicott City, served on the Home Owners Association board nearly 30 years, and he also ran for the Board of Education.
