NATURE & OUTDOORS

FAMILY CAMPING EXPERIENCE Nothing beats a night under the stars! Our Family Camping Experience is the perfect first overnight adventure for families looking to get into camping. Set in one of our parks, this program gives you an opportunity to “rough it” without losing all your creature comforts. Our campsite will be in a semi-lit environment with quick access to cars, running water and bathrooms. It’s a great way to learn about what equipment and supplies are must haves, the best way to set up your campsite, how to Leave No Trace, and to ensure that the whole family is ready to take camping out into the wilderness! Fun outdoor activities and the staple of camping— s’mores—also will be included. $15 6+ years Independence Park Fri., Oct. 1, 5:30 p.m. – Sat., Oct. 2, 8:30 a.m. FAMILY FISHING Got any bass? Go Fish! Family Fishing will teach participants how to get started with fishing basics and angler education. Participants will learn how to tie fishing knots, what bait to use to catch different types of fish, how to properly cast and reel in a catch, and what local fish species can be found and fished for in Pearland. We also will talk about Texas fishing laws. This program is a great way for families to spend time together and can teach children a skill that they can use and expand upon for the rest of their lives. All equipment and supplies will be provided. $10 6+ years DFNC Sat., Nov. 6, 8:30 - 10 a.m.
