FAMILY FUN DAY This fall bring your family on down to the DFNC for a day of intense naturing and family friendly fun! Throughout the day there will be scheduled educational mini- lessons, outdoor recreation stations, yard games and more. Check the DFNC’s Facebook page for program details and full schedule! BIRDING IN THE FIELD A birders paradise! Brazoria County is located in the Central Flyway and is among the counties with the highest bird species count in the state. Whether you’re a lifelong birder looking to hang out with a new flock or someone who just dabbles, Birding in the Field is sure to be a great time! Join an experienced guide to explore some of Pearland’s birding hotspots. Participants will get the opportunity to see a variety of species and learn tips for identifying birds in the field. All skill levels are welcome. $20 16+ years Oct. 20, 8 - 9:30 a.m., SCR Nature Trail Dec. 11, 8 - 9:30 a.m. DFNC MONTHLY NATURE WORKSHOPS Join our Natural Resources team for their new monthly workshops in September and October at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center! These workshops will cover a variety of nature-based and natural resources topics. Come early to take a tour of the nature center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month and classes are from 7—8 p.m. Registration can be done online before or at the door the day of the event. $5 16+ years DFNC
GUIDED NATURE HIKES Guided Nature Hikes with the DFNC are family-friendly evening hikes that take place at different nature hot-spots around Pearland. Each hike is tailored to search for different varieties of local nocturnal wildlife on Wild Night Hikes, Owl Prowls and Bat Walks! You’ll have an opportunity to learn from our knowledgeable staff about the natural environment and wildlife found at the Delores Fenwick Nature Center, the John Hargrove Environmental Complex and the Nature Trail at Shadow Creek Ranch. Small groups of participants, outfitted with a Nature Explorer Pack, will walk the trails with our staff at the lead. Staff will point out interesting features, important habitats and visiting wildlife during the hike. $10 all ages DFNC and SCR Nature Trail
